💙 A little pricing update - Jane 💙

From 1st September 2026, FYB Physiotherapy Follow-Up’s and 1-2-1 Clinical Reformer appointments will increase:

- Physio follow-up: £45 → £50
- Clinical Reformer: £45 → £50

Don't worry if you're already booked in, any appointments booked before 1st September will be honoured at the price you booked them at, even if your appointment is after that date.

We always try to keep prices fair, but as her experience (and apparently the number of letters after her name 🤣) continues to grow, so do the costs of keeping everything running!

Since qualifying as a Physiotherapist, she has continued to invest in further training and CPD, alongside working as a Clinical Educator and continually developing what the clinic can offer within treatment and rehabilitation.

This small increase helps reflect the experience, training and ongoing investment that goes into what she does.

Thank you, as always, for keeping FYB and particularly our Physiotherapy side so wonderfully busy, it really is appreciated.

Recovery isn't the thing that gets in the way of progress... it's what allows progress to happen.

A study of 446 elite endurance athletes found:

- Athletes taking fewer than 2 rest days per week had a 5.2x higher risk of overuse injury.
- Training more than 700 hours per year doubled the risk of overuse injuries.
- Tendon injuries were more common in older athletes, highlighting the cumulative effect of years of loading.

The takeaway?

More training doesn't always mean better results. Your body adapts during recovery, not while you're training.

But here's the important bit... a rest day doesn't have to mean sitting on the sofa all day.

Recovery can include:

🏃 An easy walk or gentle cycle.
🧘 Mobility and flexibility work.
💪 Targeted strength exercises.
🩹 Rehabilitation exercises.
😴 Prioritising sleep, hydration and good nutrition.

The aim is to reduce the overall training load while still helping your body recover and adapt.

As a physiotherapist, I often help runners and endurance athletes make their recovery days more effective. That might mean identifying movement limitations, prescribing the right strength exercises, using Pilates Reformer for low-impact strength and control, or helping you balance training and recovery to reduce your injury risk.

Recovery isn't about doing less.
It's about doing the right things.

Whether you're preparing for your next race, chasing a PB, or simply trying to stay active, make recovery part of the plan, not an afterthought.

How do you spend your recovery days? Active recovery or complete rest?

Is the problem always where it hurts?

Not necessarily.

As part of his osteopathic assessments, Terry uses Anatomy in Motion (AiM) to gain a better understanding of how your body moves.

Rather than looking at a painful joint in isolation, AiM considers how the whole body works together during everyday movements like walking. Sometimes, a restriction or compensation in one area can influence how another part of the body functions.

This movement assessment helps Terry build a clearer picture of what's happening and, combined with osteopathic treatment, rehabilitation and exercise, guides an approach that's tailored specifically to you.

Every body moves differently. That's why every assessment is different too.

Whether you're struggling with persistent aches, recurring injuries, or simply don't feel like you're moving as well as you used to, understanding your movement can be an important part of finding the right treatment.

🏊‍♀️ From the Pool to the Clinic – A Swimmer's Perspective 🏊‍♀️

As a former competitive swimmer, Jake understands the demands that training places on your body. Hours in the pool, thousands of strokes, and repetitive movements can all lead to aches, tightness, and overuse injuries.

Whether you swim competitively, train for fitness, or simply enjoy being in the water, sports massage can help support recovery and keep you performing at your best.

Struggling with general muscle fatigue? Swimming challenges the whole body, and recovery is just as important as training.

Regular sports massage can:

• Reduce muscle soreness.
• Improve recovery between sessions.
• Help you maintain flexibility and movement.
• Keep you training consistently.

As a former competitive swimmer, Jake knows first-hand what the sport demands. His experience, combined with his sports therapy knowledge, means he understands the common problems swimmers face and how to help manage them.

If you're struggling with niggles, tight muscles or recurring aches, book in and keep yourself swimming comfortably for longer.

👌🏼 Looking beneath the surface 👇🏼

One of the best parts of having student physiotherapists with us is being able to introduce them to the technologies and clinical reasoning shaping modern MSK practice.

Here, Terry is demonstrating Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) as part of a teaching session. Used appropriately, POCUS can complement a thorough history and physical examination, helping clinicians better understand anatomy, movement and tissue presentation.

Our aim isn't just to teach techniques, it's to help students develop the clinical reasoning skills that underpin safe, evidence-informed practice. Investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals benefits everyone, especially future patients.
