Do you hate winter?

I used to.

I was diagnosed with SAD in my late teens/20’s but it turns out the real reason was because of bullying and struggling with my sexuality. My mind and body associated winter with a horrible time in my life.

And yes, whilst my perfect weather is around 25 degrees and sunny I no longer dread winters, want to curl up in a ball and hide away until spring. I look forward to the longer evenings snuggled up in front of the log burner instead.

This isn’t an isolated incident either.

I’ve seen it time and again with the clients I’ve worked with too.

Rather than the issue being the cold, wet, darkness of winter it’s the mind/body memory of the time of year you:

- Underwent treatment.
- Experienced a stressful divorce or breakdown of a relationship.
- Grieved the death of a loved one.

That’s what our body remembers. Once healed so does our autumn/winter experience.

For one client rather than associating autumn with chemo days, they now love getting out walking and seeing the leaves falling, smelling the air and relishing the change of season and the positives it brings.

Did you realise that this type of change was even possible?

It's suddenly September already!

With most of the year behind us, are you finding yourself thinking:

“Why does nothing seem to change, no matter what I do?”

“I know what I want to achieve, so why do I keep getting in my own way?”

“Have I lost my way a bit? Am I actually focusing on what matters to me?”

Whether it’s in work, health or life generally, maybe you have a goal and know what you need to do to get there, but still find yourself stuck in the same place.

Or perhaps you’re very aware that something keeps holding you back, but you can’t quite work out how to move beyond it.

That’s exactly why I created From Frustration To Flow, a six-session live online experience.

Across the six sessions you'll
⭐ Take a step back and look at where life is right now,
⭐ Get clearer on what you actually want
⭐ Explore some of the subconscious beliefs and patterns that may be creating resistance.
⭐ Learn practical tools and exercises, so you can start doing something with what you uncover rather than simply leaving with more information.

One previous participant described it as finally feeling like she was “making headway, rather than going round in circles.”

The next course starts on 14th September at 6pm (BST) and places are limited to 10.

Don't wait for another new year before you get your goals back on track, lets finish this year with positive progress.

If you’ve seen some of my posts about the From Frustration To Flow course, or heard about it but aren’t sure if it’s right for you, Susan’s experience really sums up what previous participants have got from the sessions.

Many of the people who come along have that sense of going round in circles and not getting anywhere. Or just a general feeling of having lost their sense of direction and focus.

This course isn’t about giving you more information or another list of things you should be doing, because quite often knowing more isn’t the answer.

Sometimes the most useful thing you can do is pause and take a step back. A chance to look at the bigger picture, regroup and get clearer on where your attention needs to go.

It can also be about understanding what may be creating those repeated frustrations and then learning and using different tools and practices to begin working with them at a deeper level.

That’s very much what From Frustration To Flow is about.

The next six-session online course starts on 14th September.

So if you’ve been feeling a bit like Susan and are ready to try a different approach, you can find the full details of the course here:

Why effort doesn’t always equal change

When I talk with people about what I do, there’s often a common theme in people’s frustrations with their life.

Most people already have a pretty good idea of what they want to change. They may have thought about it for months, read books, listened to podcasts, talked it through with friends or even tried several different approaches.

The frustration comes when, despite all of that effort and awareness, they still seem to end up back in the same place.

When you’ve read all the books, gain all the knowledge and feels like you’re putting the effort in but nothing seems to change, the missing piece is often what is happening underneath conscious awareness.

We can genuinely want something to be different while still carrying beliefs, fears or familiar patterns that influence how we respond without us necessarily realising it.

That is one of the areas we explore during From Frustration To Flow.

Across the six sessions we look at where life feels out of alignment, go through exercises to help uncover the subconscious patterns that may be creating the resistance and how you can begin working with them to so you’re whole mind is in better alignment with your goals.

The emphasis is very much on putting things into practice as we go, so you leave with tools you can continue using rather than simply more information to think about.

The next online experience starts on 14th September.

It’s slightly alarming how quickly this year seems to be disappearing.

And this can be the point where you suddenly realise that some of the things you really wanted to change or achieve this year still haven’t quite happened.

Sometimes there are obvious reasons for that. But sometimes you know what you want, you’ve got a pretty good idea what you need to do and you’re putting the effort in, yet something still seems to get in the way.

That’s exactly the kind of frustration I created From Frustration To Flow to explore.

In this short video I explain a little more about who it’s for, what we’ll be doing over the six sessions and why it’s about much more than simply learning more information.

The next experience starts on 14th September and I keep the group to a maximum of 10 people.

If this feel like something you want to get on top of, you can find the full details here:

Has anyone ever said to you, "Just let it go," and you've thought, "Thanks. I would if I could..."

It's advice most of us have heard at some point.

It's well intentioned and coming from a place of caring.

The problem is, if it was that easy, we'd all have done it already.

When something has hurt you deeply, whether it was a relationship, friendship, something that happened at work or within your family, your mind and body don't simply decide one day that it's over.

If it was all too much at the time the original hurt, anger, sadness or disappointment will still being trapped and held in place, your mind and body react as though it's happening all over again. When you see them, think back or encounter similar scenarios.

That's why "just let it go" so often doesn't work.

In this short video, I explain why that happens and why healing the original experience can help you finally move forwards.

If you'd like to understand more about how PSYCH-K® works and why it can create these kinds of changes, I've included a link below.

Hands up too, as I know I have, who has said or thought just let it go?

Why do I keep making the same mistakes and bad decisions?

One of the subconscious mind’s most basic jobs is to help keep you safe.

A lot of what it learns about what feels safe, acceptable or familiar starts very early in life, from the habits, beliefs and messages within our families, how we interpret what we see and experience, what gets us praise, attention and love, what leads to rejection, and the behaviour of significant people around us.

It uses this to create habits, associations and patterns that help us navigate the world quickly. Rather than analysing every situation from scratch, the brain can draw on what it has learnt before and respond automatically.

That ability is incredibly useful. It would be exhausting if we had to consciously think our way through everything we did.

The downside is that some of those automatic patterns may no longer be useful.

You’ll notice it when you decide to do something differently, but when the moment comes you find yourself repeating the same reaction before you can stop yourself.

• You decide to speak up more at work, but the moment comes and you keep quiet.
• You decide to put yourself first, but automatically say yes when someone asks something of you.
• You know you should charge more, apply for something, change jobs or set a boundary, but something seems to pull you back.

This isn’t you failing or necessarily a lack of willpower. It may simply be an automatic response doing what it has learnt to do when you move outside what feels familiar, safe or possible.

That can highlight a mismatch between your conscious intention and the beliefs and associations sitting underneath it.

This is why I find subconscious work so fascinating. What looks like procrastination, lack of confidence or self-sabotage makes much more sense when you understand what may be driving the response.

Once you can see the pattern, you can begin working with it at a deeper level so your subconscious becomes more comfortable with what you’re trying to achieve.

Where do you notice yourself repeating the same frustrating behaviour, even though consciously you know you want to do something differently?

Be more Teflon.

This has come up quite a few times in sessions recently.

I always find it interesting when there is a running theme, it feels like a message that needs to be shared, so here I am.

It's so easy for someone else to say:

"Just let it go."

"Why do you let them bother you?"

"Move on."

Whilst those comments are usually well intentioned, they're often coupled with a lack of understanding.

As an example, maybe you've been wronged by a partner, colleague, friend or a parent.

Whatever happened hurt you deeply and has never fully been put to bed.

So no, you can't "just let it go."

When something happened in the past, or is still ongoing, and you weren't able to fully process it at the time, the emotional memory can remain.

Then, when you think or see that person or find yourself in a similar situation, your mind and body can react as though it's happening all over again because the original hurt, anger, sadness, disappointment, is still being carried.

On that level, it's understandable that you can't just let it slide.

When you heal that original wound, then you can forgive easily, let it go and what was once a vivid memory with a tonne of intense emotion slides effortlessly into the background.

It is during these discussions within sessions that a few people have mentioned wanting to "become more Teflon." The meaning of which we created through the PSYCH-K® Process.

I thought it was a wonderful turn of phrase because it encapsulated everything beautifully.
Which made me wonder what other wonderful phrases are out there with powerful hidden meanings.

Do share yours, what are they?

Is it me or is this year going really quickly?

We’re already over the halfway point and whilst the summer has been amazing, although a little rain would be very welcome now, I can definitely get a sense of the evenings drawing in and the season starting to change.

It also feels like quite a natural time to pause and check in on the plans you had for the year.

I make sure I fit in regular times throughout the year just to notice whether my ideas have come to fruition, whether I still feel on track or whether what I want for the rest of the year has changed.

Sometimes, if things aren’t quite where you thought they’d be, there are clear reasons.

But sometimes an honest reflection can show you that something else may be getting in the way.

Maybe that big goal keeps getting pushed aside. Maybe you’re so busy dealing with everyone else’s stuff that you never quite get the time to focus on your own intentions. Or perhaps you feel like you’re putting the hours in and know what needs to be done, yet you’re still not making the progress you’d expect.

When the same frustrations keep coming back, sometimes it isn’t about needing more knowledge, more skills or more determination. There may be beliefs, habits or patterns underneath the surface that are influencing what you do without you necessarily realising it.

That’s one of the reasons I put together From Frustration To Flow.

It gives you the space to properly stop and reflect on where you are, get clearer on what you really want and explore some of the subconscious patterns that may be getting in the way. We also work with practical tools during the sessions, so you can start doing something with what you uncover rather than just thinking about it.

As one previous participant said:

“It gave me a chance to reflect on where I am and where I want to be… and given me tools I can go back to whilst enabling me to move forward with confidence.”

The next course starts on 14th September, with six one-hour sessions over two weeks.

Solar eclipse 1999 was underwhelming. Both Lorna and I thought it would go fully dark rather than a bit dusky.

At first we weren't too concerned about seeing the eclipse yesterday until we opened our Octopus Energy e-mail which included details of their competition.

Oooooh now this sounds interesting.

What started out as how can we make a pinhole camera and take a picture of the eclipse morphed into oooh we can make an octopus, hang on, two octopuses meeting under the half light of the solar eclipse and finding love ☺

Creativity is so healing as well as embracing our childlike side and having fun. Yesterday we certainly did that.

How did you all do during the solar eclipse?
