When I explored training to become a sound therapist I wanted to train with academic rigour, intellectual and scientific curiosity. I very rarely (if ever) talk about chakras in my practice; I absolutely value and respect those incredible sound practitioners that do- there is a big place for that, but the way I practice and the way I talk about sound is through the science… and the more I practice, the more I learn, and the more I see and feel the incredible power of sound.
I feel privileged to have trained through the amazing Signature Sound Academy and I feel excited that I will never ‘finish’ my training. The body is an incredible thing with so much more to learn about.
As a Philosophy teacher in my previous line of work I go back to the (apparent) words of Socrates: “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know”. I LOVE this mantra because it means I will continue to learn and grow in my practice.
Please do contact me if you want to find out more.

There’s a part of my work with Ambient Sound Therapy that I feel particularly proud of… bringing sound into schools. 💙

After more than 20 years working in education, including seven years in senior leadership, supporting young people has been a huge part of my professional life.

Now, I’m able to bring that experience together with my work as a qualified Sound Therapist.

Through sound, breathing, grounding and sensory exploration, I’m creating opportunities for young people to pause, listen, notice and simply be — something that can sometimes be difficult to find in a busy school day.

And it doesn’t have to sit separately from learning. Sound can open up fascinating connections with Science, PSHE, mindfulness, emotional awareness and transition support.

I don’t believe sound therapy replaces the brilliant pastoral or specialist mental-health support already happening in schools. Instead, it can provide another experience through which young people can explore wellbeing, curiosity and greater awareness of themselves.

Perhaps the thing I love most is that when I walk back into a school, I haven’t stopped being a teacher.

I’m just bringing something new with me.

I’ve written a new blog about why this work means so much to me, how my years in education shape the sessions I deliver, and why I believe creating space for young people to pause really matters.

Today was a powerful reminder of what can happen when schools, health professionals and wellbeing practitioners come together to support young people’s mental health.

I felt incredibly privileged to be invited to contribute to the USF Schools Mental Health Ambassador training, organised by the USF Wellbeing lead, hosted by and led by the NHS Mental Health Support Team, part of the

Around 80 children came together to explore how they can become positive voices for mental health and wellbeing within their own school communities.

My role was to offer something a little different.

Through a sound bath, the children were given time to stop. To pause. To reflect. To experience how sound, stillness and simply having space can form part of a wider approach to wellbeing.

For me, that’s where days like this become particularly powerful — different organisations and approaches coming together with one shared purpose: giving young people the knowledge, tools and confidence to look after themselves and support one another.

A genuine privilege to play a small part in it. 🙏

An invitation to pause, rest and reset.

Join me for a Group Sound Bath — 75 minutes where there is nothing you need to achieve, fix or work at. Simply find a comfortable position, close your eyes if that feels right, and allow yourself to be immersed in sound.

Sound isn’t just something we hear — we experience it through the body too. The slow rhythms, sustained tones and gentle vibrations of instruments such as the gong, crystal bowls, drum and therapeutic percussion can encourage the body to shift away from a state of alertness and towards the parasympathetic nervous system — our ‘rest and digest’ state.

For many people, that can feel like the volume has been turned down: breathing slows, muscles soften and the mind has an opportunity to become a little quieter.

No experience is needed. No expectation of how you should feel. Just an invitation to come exactly as you are.
