One of the questions we get asked most often is, “How long should I leave between appointments?”
💅🏻 Gel Polish: We recommend booking every 2–3 weeks. This helps keep your nails looking fresh while preventing lifting or chipping as your natural nails grow.
💅🏻 Builder Gel (BIAB/Builder Gel): We recommend maintenance appointments every 3–4 weeks, depending on your natural nail growth, lifestyle, and how well your nails retain the product. Waiting too long can put extra stress on the nail, increasing the risk of lifting, breakages, or damage.
It’s important to remember that everyone’s nails are different. Some people’s nails naturally hold gel for weeks without any issues, while others may experience lifting sooner. This can be influenced by factors such as nail chemistry, hormones, medications, occupation, lifestyle, and even how much your hands are exposed to water or chemicals —every client is unique and therefore may mean you need an appointment sooner than your friend does!
✨ Looking after your nails between appointments is just as important as the treatment itself and will influence how long they last.
Here are a few simple ways to keep your nails healthy and your manicure lasting longer:
• Apply cuticle oil every day to keep the nails and surrounding skin hydrated.
• Wear gloves when cleaning, gardening, or using harsh chemicals.
• Avoid using your nails as tools to open, scrape, or pick at things.
• Never pick or peel your gel, as this can remove layers of your natural nail.
• Moisturise your hands regularly to keep your nails and skin healthy.
Healthy nails are a partnership between your nail technician and you. By keeping up with regular maintenance appointments and following the right aftercare, you’ll enjoy stronger, healthier nails and beautiful results that last.
