Did you know ex-forces personnel often possess the ideal skills to have a successful career in H&S?

With Armed Forces Day coming up this Saturday, we want to recognise and support all those who make up the armed forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families (In fact some of our assessors are ex-forces or milspos themselves!).
It also feels like the ideal moment to spotlight our H&S NVQ Programme, which you can use your ELC credits to help fund.

The crossover between the military experience and H&S is suprising, with many of the core skills being the same:
✅ Constantly identifying risks and making quick decisions while staying calm under pressue and adapting to changing situations
✅ Leading teams, briefing and coordinating colleagues, and influencing safe behaviours
✅ Following and enforcing protocol, compliance, safe systems of work and organisational policies
✅ Planning and organisation, audits and inspections (though thankfully not quite the shoe shine and ironing checks you would have had in basic training!)

⭐ NEW ⭐ Level 5 Award in Fire Risk Assessment 🔥
You may have seen our post earlier this week about our new Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment... we're pleased to announce that we have now also launched the Level 5 Award!

What's the difference? Well, this award is tailored towards those who are responsible for implementing recommended fire risk controls in high-risk buildings using a fire risk assessment carried out by another person, but are not responsible for creating the fire risk assessment themselves.
This applies to, for example, buildings or facilities managers, or safety practitioners who want to undertake accredited CPD.

This single-unit award is assessed via a mix of workplace evidence, written Q&A and witness testimony, with support from one of our experienced assessors throughout.

As with the Diploma, the award is certified by ProQual Awarding Body and is aligned to the intermediate & advanced fire risk assessment competencies outlined in BS 8674:2025.

New Course Alert 🔥 Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment

During our time at the Health & Safety Event last month, we had a lot of interest in our competence-based Level 3 and Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment qualifications, with many asking "what about the Level 5?"
Well, we are pleased announce that it has finally gone live! 😁

Aligned with skills and behaviors outlined in BS 8674: 2025, this qualification is ideal for:
🟠 Fire risk assessors who want to progress to higher-risk assessments
🟠 H&S practicioners who are currently carrying out low/mediium risk FRAs and are ready to step up into more complex buildings and environments.

Because this is certified by ProQual, an awarding body recognised by Ofqual, you can be certain that this is a credible qualification, that supports your professional development.

Please be aware that those wishing to study this Level 5 must either already hold a Level 4 qualification in Fire Risk Assessment, or have at least 5 years demonstrable experience in the field of fire risk assessment. You must also be employed in a role, or enrolled on a training course, that enables you to carry out fire risk assessments either in real environments or through realistic simulations for low, moderate, and high risk buildings.
