💙 Waking Night Carers Needed – Supporting a Lovely 92‑Year‑Old Lady in Her Own Home (End‑of‑Life Care)
We’re looking for compassionate, attentive Waking Night Carers to support a warm and caring 92‑year‑old lady receiving end‑of‑life care in her adapted home in Hull.
Her living room has been thoughtfully arranged to ensure comfort and safety, and her family—three sons and one daughter—visit regularly and remain closely involved in her care.
She is a former paediatric nurse, and her gentle nature shines through. At times, she may speak as though caring for children; carers who offer kindness, reassurance and positive conversation help her feel calm and secure. She enjoys listening to ABBA and Michael Bublé, which often brings her comfort.
đź’™ About Her Care Needs
She lives with several long‑term conditions including osteoarthritis, COPD, asthma, lymphoedema, spinal compression fractures, hypertension, Gilbert’s syndrome, and short‑term memory loss. She also experiences anxiety.
During waking night shifts, carers will provide:
Continuous monitoring for breathing difficulties, pain or anxiety
Gentle reassurance and a calm, vigilant presence
Encouragement of regular fluids
PRN medication administration when required
Accurate record‑keeping throughout the shift
Escalation to the specialist palliative care team when needed
💙 Who We’re Looking For
We value carers who are:
Compassionate and patient
Confident supporting end‑of‑life or palliative needs
Able to remain attentive throughout the night
Committed to delivering dignified, person‑centred care
Experience in palliative care is beneficial, but a caring nature is essential.
