A.S Physiotherapy

A.S Physiotherapy AS Physiotherapy provides musculoskeletal physiotherapy focused on assessment, diagnosis, and structured rehabilitation.

Chartered Physiotherapist, services support pain, injury, post-operative recovery, and safe return to function or performance. Sports therapists give advice to athletes on how to train and compete safely, as well as treat injuries and assist with rehabilitation. Their aim is to prevent injuries and to help those who are injured to return to full fitness. Sports therapy and rehabilitation is concer

ned with musculoskeletal conditions arising from sporting activity, not with general healthcare. It focuses on understanding and preventing sports injuries and dealing with the effects of physical and emotional trauma due to sports injuries. Sports therapists may work in sports injuries clinics or may work directly with a sports club or sportsperson, either professional or amateur. Many therapists combine working in this discipline with other sports-related roles. They may have a range of clients and workplaces, rather than being employed by one organisation.

🏋️ Your Achilles isn't lazy... it just wants feeding!

Achilles tendons love load (when it's the right load!).

🔥 Try:
✅ 3–5 × 45-second isometric holds
✅ Heavy enough to feel like 7–8/10 effort
✅ Keep pain sensible (≤3–4/10)

Don't wrap it in cotton wool... teach it to cope instead.

Your tendon doesn't want sympathy it wants a job. 💪

😂 CONFESSION TIME...

We all say the same thing...

🗣️ "I only bent down to pick up a sock..."
🗣️ "I slept funny..."
🗣️ "I'm getting old!"
🗣️ "It just went..."

As physios, we've heard them all! 😅

So, let's have a laugh...

What's the weirdest way you've ever injured yourself?

Your turn! The funniest (or most unbelievable)

🏋️‍♂️ Small restrictions can make a big difference to your training.

Today's patient came in unable to achieve full range of motion during several gym exercises. Following a movement assessment, we identified restricted lat mobility that was affecting their movement patterns.

After targeted hands-on treatment and corrective movement work, we restored functional range of motion during the session. ✅

To keep those improvements, they also left with a personalised home programme to prevent the tightness from creeping back.

Don't ignore movement restrictions they can affect performance, technique and increase injury risk over time.

Many injuries improve with targeted strength work, not just rest or passive treatment.

When a muscle, tendon, or joint becomes irritated, it often loses strength and capacity.
Rehabilitation focuses on rebuilding that capacity so the body can tolerate movement again.

Effective rehab should include:
✔ Controlled strengthening exercises
✔ Gradual progression of load
✔ Movement specific to your activity or sport

Strength work helps tissues adapt, recover, and become more resilient.

Rehab isn’t just about reducing pain — it’s about building the body back stronger than before.

Back pain doesn’t mean your back is weak.

Often it’s about:
• Stiffness
• Loss of movement confidence
• Avoiding load

The spine is strong and adaptable it just needs the right gradual exposure to movement.

Rest alone rarely fixes the problem.
Movement does.

Hamstring, calf and groin injuries don’t just “happen.”

They’re usually a load-management issue — not a strength issue.

It’s not about how strong you are.

It’s about:
📈 How quickly load increased
⚡ How much sprint exposure you had
⏱️ How well you recovered
📊 Whether capacity matched demand

Rehab shouldn’t just make you “stronger.”
It should rebuild capacity and reintroduce speed properly.

If you keep breaking down…
Look at load.

Not just strength.

Pain doesn’t always equal damage.

Many people stop moving because they’re afraid they’ll make their injury worse.

In reality, for most musculoskeletal problems, graded, appropriate movement is a key part of recovery.
