(Socially Produced) Power: how we collude with power imbalances in our clinical work.

We are delighted to announce that Ben Groves will be running a Deep Dive CPD workshop in October!

Power is often a challenging topic for us to consider, as often shame and oppression also show up alongside it. It is possible for us to oversimplify this in our clinical work- rushing to give the client the power, or attempt to disavow our own power. In this workshop we will explore some of the ways we unconsciously support the current power structures, how we can account for our power in ways that can support the therapeutic process.

This session will include references to 'Critical Theory', 'TA', 'Radical Psychiatry', and wider 'comparative cultural history'.

The Poet’s Toolbox: Creative Approaches for Therapists

We are delighted to announce that our fifth Deep Dive of 2026 is being offered by Ben Bradshaw!

This three-hour experiential workshop introduces The Poet’s Toolbox: a collection of creative and practical ways to integrate poetry into therapeutic practice.

Drawing on Ben’s long-standing relationship with poetry alongside his work as a therapist, the session blends lived creative experience with clinical insight and explores the link between poetry and human emotion.

An Introduction to ENGAGE

This workshop will present ENGAGE, the first part of the model, a therapeutic toolkit comprising key components selected from a range of theoretical teachings and clinical applications, reformulated into a coherent framework.

ENGAGE is an acronym for: E – educate, N – notice & name, G – game, A – analysis, G - generate, E – end

Delivered by Nicole Addis, a UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor with extensive clinical experience in both NHS and private settings. Nicole set up Peel Psychological Consultancy in 2012, a trauma informed private counselling organization and training centre and is the lead trainer in ECPT Newcastle.

This workshop moves beyond awareness into applied clinical practice including case material, rupture-and-repair work, and intervention-based exercises.

Whether you attended the online session or are new to the material, this workshop offers a rich opportunity to develop your reflexivity and clinical skill in working with cultural difference.

Feedback from the online workshop was overwhelmingly positive, with 20 out of 21 participants rating it “Excellent.”
