I’ll be honest, I struggle with this one.

I have always tried to be more present for my partner, friends and family, but sometimes I put work first, and that’s not good enough. To build a successful business, it does take sacrifice, but at the same time, you need boundaries.

Now I’m becoming a father, I don’t want my daughter to see me on my phone all day or just working.

Sometimes I am all or nothing, and I’m working on that.

“Success means very little if you’re too busy building a life to actually be present for it.”

If you ask me, deadlifts are one of the most overrated movements.

People act like you have to deadlift to get strong. You don’t. But that doesn’t mean they’re useless. Deadlifts have plenty of benefits, and if building strength is your goal, they can be a pretty solid movement to have in your programme.

Before we throw them straight into F tier and claim one rep will make your spine leave your body like it’s handed in its fu***ng notice, we need some context.

Why are you deadlifting? What are you trying to get from the movement?

Every exercise comes with some level of risk. Even driving or riding your bike to the gym has risk. The important part is managing that risk rather than pretending it doesn’t exist.

Deadlifts can also be performed in different ways depending on your goals. Conventional, sumo, trap bar, Romanian deadlifts and different variations all have their place.

The deadlift itself isn’t inherently dangerous when performed with good technique, sensible loading and, most importantly, when you don’t let your ego load the fu***ng bar.

You don’t need to deadlift.

But you also don’t need to act like picking something heavy off the floor is a one way ticket to getting your arse wiped for the rest of your life.

Do you deadlift? Let me know in the comments.

Something you might not know about me…

I’m dyslexic.

I was F set English! Never passed my maths GCSE. I was the good at art tho that was my thing.

At school it didn’t really affect me, but it affects me way more in adult life than I ever thought it would.

Running a successful business is one thing. Writing about it is another. Posts take longer. Emails take longer. Double checking still isn’t enough as I juts can’t see it.

In the early days I used to send every single Instagram post to my mum to spell check before I uploaded it. Thanks mum!

But here’s what I’ve realised…

We all have something. Something we work around. Something that makes things harder than they look from the outside.

So for all of my dyslexic brothers and sisters

If you’ve ever felt “not academic” It just means we might take a slightly messier route to get where we’re going.

Even if it takes us a bit longer. 💛

Doing more than 2 chest movements in a session might actually be holding your progress back.

And I’m not just saying this for the sake of being different. I’ve grown a pretty good chest over the years, and I definitely didn’t do it by throwing every chest exercise imaginable into one session.

A lot of people think they need a flat press, incline press, fly, decline movement and another variation just to make sure they’ve “hit everything.”

You really don’t.

Your chest doesn’t need an entire catalogue of exercises every time you train it.

Pick 1 or 2 chest movements that feel good, that you can perform consistently, and that you can actually progress over time.

Then get brutally strong at them.

Because once you start piling exercise after exercise into the same session, there’s a point where you’re not adding more stimulus.

You’re just adding more fatigue.

And that extra fatigue can make it harder to recover, harder to progress your lifts and harder to actually know what’s working.

More exercises doesn’t automatically mean more growth.

Sometimes the reason you’ve stalled is because you’re trying to do too much instead of getting more out of less.

A couple of well chosen movements.

Hard, productive sets.

Consistent progression.

Then get out of the gym and recover.

You don’t need to declare Exterminatus on your chest every push day.

Sometimes less really does get you more.

I had a comment from a lovely French chap!

No, we don’t train people differently here at TPF because they’re into Warhammer. That would be Heresy, and mental.

The thing that brings us together is the love of the hobby, the support and the sweet, sweet gains.

He also had a go at me for monetising Warhammer… 😂

If anything, we’re taking money away from Warhammer.

Guys get fitter, spend more time in the gym and have less time to wander into Games Workshop and accidentally leave £150 poorer.

We’re basically a Warhammer financial support service.

Every man should have a tribe, and at TPF we have a great one.

Warhammer hobbyists, I need your help!

I’ve built myself an outdoor office/hobby cave, but I’m not sure what the best things are to kit it out with.

What are your hobby room essentials? What’s something you’ve bought for your setup that you genuinely couldn’t live without now?

Lighting, storage, painting equipment, display cabinets, tools, desks, chairs, gadgets… I want to hear it all!

Let me know your recommendations in the comments. I’d really appreciate the help!

If you have an injury at the moment, you might need to hear this.

Don’t train like a dick. Be smart and gain clarity on the problem.

If you’re into Warhammer but have been struggling to get into the gym, then TPF is for you. We have an amazing worldwide community that will support you every step of the way.

If you want more info, comment or DM me ‘level up
