We’re delighted to share that clinical research from The London Orthotic Consultancy, developed in close collaboration with the consultant team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has now been published in the peer-reviewed Canadian Prosthetics and Orthotics Journal.

The paper, “Immediate height gain during fitting as a predictor of in-brace skeletal correction: A non-radiographic clinical indicator”, explores whether a simple height measurement during brace fitting could help clinicians assess how effectively a scoliosis brace is correcting the spine.

Our findings suggest this could provide a useful, non-invasive additional measure of a patient’s response during fitting. While it does not replace the need for X-rays, it can support more informed, personalised treatment.

We’re incredibly proud to see this work published. It represents years of clinical expertise, research and collaboration, and is an important milestone in continuing to build the evidence base behind the LOC Scoliosis Brace and the care we provide to patients.

Scoliosis success story: from 45° to 34° in just 10 months 💪

At age 15, Jake was diagnosed with a 45° scoliosis curve. Through consistent wear of his LOC Scoliosis Brace, Scoliosis SOS exercises, and regular swimming, his curve reduced to 34° in under a year.

A fantastic outcome that exceeded expectations and highlights the impact of early intervention, patient commitment, and non-surgical treatment.

Excellent progress in just 6 months 🩻

This 13-year-old patient has shown clear improvement in spinal alignment following six months of full-time wear of The London Orthotic Consultancy Brace, as part of her wider care pathway.

This case highlights the role of timely orthotic intervention and good brace compliance in supporting postural alignment and functional stability during growth.

Ongoing brace wear throughout growth remains important to support alignment and help manage the risk of progression, alongside appropriate medical oversight.

What can you do in your LOC brace?

We're running a competition to show that wearing a brace doesn't stop you doing the things you love, and we'd love you to get involved!

Every video you send is a separate entry into a prize draw to win a £50 Space NK voucher, and you can send as many clips as you like. The best videos will be used in a video we share across our channels.
