🎶 The Power of Music & Reminiscence 💗

Music has a wonderful way of connecting us. A familiar song can bring back a memory, lift someone’s mood, encourage conversation or simply bring a smile — even when other memories become harder to reach.

Reminiscence gives us another opportunity to connect by talking about people, places, music and moments that have meaning. It isn’t about getting every detail right; it’s about enjoying the feeling and connection that comes from sharing memories together. 🩷

At Memory Lane Day Centre, music and reminiscence are a special part of our activities, creating opportunities for laughter, conversation, singing and meaningful moments.

💕 Sometimes a song can say what words cannot.

And that brings us to the end of our Understanding Dementia Together series. Thank you for following along with us as we’ve explored different aspects of dementia and shared practical advice, understanding and compassion.

This weeks topic: 💗 Falls Prevention in Dementia

People living with dementia can sometimes be more at risk of falls due to changes in balance, mobility, vision, perception and judgement.

The good news is that small changes can make a big difference. 🌷

Keeping spaces clear and well lit, removing mats and rugs, encouraging safe movement, allowing plenty of time and making sure the person has the right footwear and mobility support can all help reduce risks.

At Caring Comes 1st & Memory Lane Day Centre, we focus on creating safe, supportive environments while encouraging confidence, movement and independence. ❤️

✨ Falls prevention isn’t about taking away independence — it’s about helping someone feel safe enough to keep doing the things they enjoy.
