Volunteers make a difference and the volunteers here at Express Group Fife certainly do that! Their compassion and kindness have had a profound and lasting impact on the service users attending the 12 groups every week across Fife. Their willingness to share both their time and their skills by volunteering with us says a lot about each of them as human beings. Their willingness to give selflessly to help others speaks to both their strength and the quality of their character. And we thank them not only today or during this Volunteers’ Week but every day!

When you volunteer with Express Group Fife, you are making a commitment to share that most precious of resources — your time — to make life better for those who need some support and compassion, you show kindness and caring and that makes the greatest difference in the lives of the individuals who attend our groups.

While I know that people choose to volunteer selflessly and without expectation of being recognised or rewarded, Express Group Fife hosted a coffee and cake get together for our volunteers this week, homemade cakes, lots of coffee and some small thank you gifts and certificates were handed out. It was a relaxed informal time for all our volunteers – activity helpers, cooks and Trustees - with a short fun(?)quiz, an opportunity to meet the staff and volunteers from different groups and an opportunity to ask any questions they may for me or that they may have about Express Group Fife.

I wanted to let our volunteers know just how much their dedication is appreciated and to make sure that they know everyone at Express Group Fife is forever grateful to each of them. It's important for them to know that what they do makes a real difference and the staff and I thank them and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign recognising the vital role volunteers play in communities. In 2026, it will take place from 1st to 7th June. We couldn’t run the service without our volunteers and we are very lucky to have such dedicated, caring people support the work that we do. To celebrate all our volunteers, we are having a Thank You Coffee and Cake Get Together in the Board Room at New Volunteer House, 16 East Fergus Place Kirkcaldy KY1 1XT 2 – 4pm on Thursday June 4.

Communities across the UK will come together from 1–7 June 2026 to celebrate Volunteers’ Week, a national campaign recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make to society.

Come together for an unforgettable evening of music, community, and purpose as St Leonards School hosts a special charity fundraising concert in support of mental health awareness.

The event aims to shine a light on the importance of mental health while raising vital funds for Express Group Fife.

With every ticket sold and every donation made, attendees will be helping to make a real difference — proving that music has the power not only to inspire, but also to bring people together for a meaningful cause.

Please can you share the details of this concert with your networks, Express Group Fife will be the recipient of the money raised at this concert on June 5th at St Leonards School in St Andrews.
