Some adjustments I've been making for life with pelvic girdle pain...
- a long grabber to limit bending down in tidying
- shoe horn to avoid straining to put shoes on
- sitting down to put on lower half clothes
- knees together getting out of a car, mine is fake leather seats so it's good it's already slidy
- small step walking and limiting distance to 15 minites at a time on only even surfaces
- slip on shoes whenever possible
- seeing PK OSTEOPATHY to realign when I can
On the flip side of shorter length walks, I know that not moving at all and sitting/laying down loads will only weaken the supporting muscles and make it worse, so I also try to limit siting down to 15-30 minutes. Of course at the end of the day I'm keen for more, but I try reminding myself that even a p*e break or getting up to fill my water is good... And well, having small children there's usually something to be getting up for.
Demoing less in class has been great along side keeping up with symmetrical strengthening work in my gym sessions. It's so hard when I know I was doing so much more before and it's also hard to not then over do it when I see an improvement.
I've found a few rules, like sticking to what's pictured above, helps me in the moments I need to do more that aggrivates it, like jolting after a child who has just run off or demo a pose that's new.
I will be sticking to the same routine in classes to so hopefully less demoing that way too.
Also the pool was SUCH a relief when I last had it. I was going nearly every day last time! For me, driving long distances puts my pelvis at a weird angle to going through to Stromness that often is a bit out of the question. But if you can make it to the pool its a great tool to have.
And also what aggrivates the pain and where people feel it can be different so maybe what I do may not work for you. Hope it helps someone out there though!
