Happy Summer Solstice β˜€οΈ 🌻 πŸ’›
Wishing you a day of peace, warmth, love and joy.

I'll be spending as much of today outdoors as I can, immersing myself in nature.
Wild swimming, walking and tending to my garden and allotment.
Connecting with all the elements of nature in deep appreciation and gratitude for nature and simply being alive.

Today's fun news! I'm featured in the Yorkshire Post, business section 'On the Spot'😊

Q's and A's;

What was your first job?
Florist shop assistant

What’s your ideal day away from the office?
An early swim in the river, a good breakfast then retreating to my allotment. No phone. A picnic and plenty of drinks. Pottering about all day and returning home in the evening tired and happy, to a meal I’ve not prepared.

Name one person you'd like to have dinner with - and why - The American actor Timothy Olyphant. I’m embarrassed to admit to this celebrity crush – his eyes, smile, big hat and swagger (Justified) make me ridiculously giddy.

What are your hobbies?
Wild swimming, gardening, allotment, walking in the Yorkshire Dales or Lakes and dancing burlesque!

What would you do if you won the Lottery?
Pay off the mortgage, help out niblings and stepson and book some interesting holidays.

What’s your favourite time of day?
Early morning. Before the world has got busy or noisy. That special light opening a fresh day, birdsong, the cold nip in the air or hint of a warm day ahead are joyful treasures.

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?
The breathtaking Yorkshire Dales. Wild, beautiful, inspiring, open – they make my heart sing and I feel blessed to be alive.

Thank you Linda Harrison for the prompt and Angela Stubbs for my first headshot 😊

Peace comes from within, not from completing tasks on our 'to do' lists.The 'to do list' wil never end. Tasks will wait....

Peace comes from within, not from completing tasks on our 'to do' lists.

The 'to do list' wil never end. Tasks will wait.

Sometimes we just have to prioritise our own needs over other peoples expectations and our responsibilities.

This morning I listened to my body rather then my brain. My body and heart were in sync - there was a clear calling for a cold swim. A system reset in the river.

So instead of diving into admin and chores which my mind was full of, I listened to the wisdom within.

I prioritised what I NEEDED this morning rather than what I felt I ought/should/must do.....

Swim swum;
πŸ’™ I feel better
πŸ’™ I can now do those 'musts/oughts/should more easily
πŸ’™ I've reaffirmed myself
πŸ’™ I've honoured the wisdom within
πŸ’™ Peace restored

They weren't on my 'to do' list but they were bloomin important πŸ’™

Such a super day! Time here at beautiful Pool Bridge Farm swimming, soaking up the vibe and chatting about delivering upcoming wellbeing events in their fantastic new Tepee.

Watch this space for more news as plans are finalised!

This heavenly place has once again worked it's magic. There is nothing like slipping into a cold water lake to clear your mind, reset your energy and restore your humour and equilibrium.....

Sanity restored, emotional resilience topped up - I can take up my place as a member of 'the sandwich generation' more comfortably again.

It's harder than it sounds! πŸ₯ͺ

Honestly, if you're middle aged, anywhere near the menopause or sandwiched between generations of caring responsibilities and you've not yet tried wild swimming - I 100% recommend it.

And this place is brilliant 😍

How much attention do you pay to things that happen in life that made you happy or were fun?

Often we don't fully engage with lovely things happening. That's because we're distracted or not really present in the moment.

Part of this weeks home practice on our Mindfulness Based Living Course is to reflect on a 'Pleasant Event' that happened each day.

That means;
Taking a few moments to notice what it was, whether you were aware of enjoying it at the time, how you experienced it through your thoughts, emotions, feelings and what's your experience now, as you recall it.

This helps us see more of the joy, happiness and easy simple pleasures are lives are full of that otherwise can pass by unnoticed. Noticing them boosts our overall feel good vibe πŸ™‚ and we start to see more happy things.

This simple practice also helps us become more aware at the time the nice things are happening - that's brilliant because we get to experience it more fully, ie we feel more joy, more happiness, more fun and more connection πŸ’š

Chester is happy to share one of his 'pleasant events' here! πŸ˜„πŸΎ

He found a great, new tennis ball in the river! It made him super proud, happy and bouncy 🐾 πŸ•

I think it's one of my 'pleasant events' for today too!

πŸ’š Try looking out for your 'Pleasant Events' each day this week and see what difference it makes πŸ’š
