Are you a carer?

A carer is a person of any age (including children) who provides unpaid support to a partner, relative, friend or neighbour who couldn’t get by without their help. This could be due to old age, frailty, physical disability, learning disability, neurodivergence, a serious health condition, mental ill health, alcohol or substance misuse, or any other reason. Parents of children who are disabled or who have a serious health condition are also considered to be carers.

The most recent UK census in 2021 showed that there are 5.8 million unpaid carers in the UK, 1.7 million of whom are providing 50 hours of unpaid care per week or more.

Eastgate Medical Group would like to increase the number of people on our carers’ register so that we can look after you better.

For more information, and to let us know if you are a carer, please follow the link below.

May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month.

Blood in your urine is the most common sign of bladder cancer.

If you notice something that doesn’t feel right, even once, get it checked by your GP. It may turn out to be nothing, but it’s worth making sure. Early diagnosis can make a real difference.
