We've created a beautiful, calm space here at the Counselling Collective Therapy Rooms, at Westport in Lanark and would like to share it with others.

This isn't just about hiring a space - it's about creating a community which works to the same high ethical standards, respecting client confidentiality, and providing person-centred services.

Perhaps you're a counsellor or complementary therapist who'd like to have a permanent space, or perhaps you'd like to bring exciting and different therapies and workshops to Lanark on a regular basis. Either way, we'd love to hear from you.

To find out more, and arrange to see the space in person, contact [email protected] or text 07761 899254

Beryl is spending the afternoon with me at the Therapy Rooms in Lanark as she continues learning how to be a good therapy dog.

Her duties include welcoming clients with enthusiastic tail wags, sleeping through therapy sessions, and being calm and relaxed - which as you can see, she has mastered! 🐾

When you’re used to being the strong one, it can be hard to admit when things feel heavy.

Counselling gives you permission to:

Put things down for a while.

Be heard without judgement.

Explore what you need.

You don’t have to carry everything alone.

There is no need to struggle, to keep your fears, feelings and concerns to yourself.

Whether you decide to reach out to a friend, or family member, a colleague, or a counsellor - just remember, the bravest thing you will ever say is ‘I need help'.

Whether you’re newly exploring your neurodivergence or further along in your journey, you’re very welcome to attend one of my free introductory sessions designed to help you get a feel for group therapy in a relaxed, confidential and supportive environment.

Monday 11 May & Monday 18 May
6:30pm at The Counselling Collective Therapy Rooms, 13 Westport, Lanark.

These sessions are your chance to experience what group therapy is like and explore whether this approach feels right for you. You'll have space to ask any questions, and I'll give you a taster of what the full 6 week programme "From Masking to Self Acceptance" involves.

No hard sell, no pressure, just an opportunity to see what it's all about.

While you're welcome to turn up on the night, space is limited, so priority will be given to those who have messaged me to book their free place.

What would it feel like to not have to hide parts of yourself?

For many people, life has meant learning to mask — to push down feelings, to appear “okay”, to fit into spaces that don’t quite fit them.

At The Counselling Collective, we try to offer something different.

A space where you don’t have to perform.
Where your feelings don’t need to be filtered.
Where your way of experiencing the world is met with curiosity, not judgement.

Whether in 1:1 counselling or within our small, supportive groups, we aim to create an environment where you can begin to soften the mask — at your own pace, in your own way.

Because being seen and accepted as you are can be the start of something really important.

Do you feel you've been masking, perhaps hiding your true self to fit in?

Join our Neurodivergent Women's Group on Mondays at 6.30 pm for a safe space to put the mask down. You're welcome as you are.

Neurodivergence — including autism and ADHD — has historically been understood through a male lens, meaning many women are missed or diagnosed later in life.

Years of masking, camouflaging and pushing themselves to “fit in” can lead to exhaustion, identity confusion and burnout.

Many neurodivergent women experience deep emotions and sensory sensitivity, often misunderstood as being “too sensitive” or “dramatic.” Over time, this can lead to anxiety, perfectionism and people-pleasing, with their own needs pushed aside.

For some women, peri-menopause makes masking feel impossible, bringing these struggles more clearly into view.

At The Counselling Collective, we offer supportive spaces where you can begin to understand your experiences and meet yourself with compassion. Whether thats through 1:1 counselling, or at one of our therapy groups.

Many neurodivergent women spend years feeling like they need to mask who they really are.

Our Neurodivergent Women’s Group offers a small, supportive space where you don’t need to pretend, perform, or explain yourself.

Together we explore things like:

• identity and self-understanding
• emotional regulation
• energy management
• navigating relationships
• unmasking and self-acceptance

Groups are small (6–8 women), creating a calm and supportive environment.
