Our apprentice, Sid, had a special visit from his course tutor today.

A huge thank you to Kim for driving all the way up here and carrying out practicals with Sid in the wet conditions.

Sid has come on leaps and bounds and is a key member of the team here at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium. It's great to meet and catch up with his tutor and hear about his groundskeeper studies.

Keep your eye out for Sid when visiting and give him the encouragement he deserves. Thank you Kim and Sid!

🎺 Thank you! 📯

We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended Saturday's Summer Open Day here at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium.

Whether a stall holder, Morecambe Brass Band member, blood donation bike rider, Scout, cake baker, or visitor, you all blew us away with your support and community spirit. Seeing so many of you engaging not only us and our Preston Ireland Bowker Funeral Directors colleagues, but each other, was heartwarming ❤️

Please keep your eye out for future events where we continue to dispell myths around the cremation process and help people in our community come together.

It was a huge honour and pleasure to meet and chat to so many of you, I'm only sorry I didn't get to talk to everyone. Hopefully next time.

As ever, if you have any questions we are here for you. And whenever you need a space to come and reflect, our gates are always open.

From the chapel attendants and office teams to those working behind the scenes, your professionalism, kindness and attention to detail make an enormous difference — not only to celebrants and funeral directors, but most importantly to the families placing their trust in us at one of the most difficult times in their lives.

As a funeral celebrant, I’m fortunate to see first-hand the care that goes into creating a calm, respectful environment for every family who walks through the doors.

Much of what you do may happen quietly and without recognition, but it certainly does not go unnoticed.

🌼CancerCare Visit🌼

Today we welcomed Kat and Anna from CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria along with Alex from Preston Ireland Bowker Funeral Directors.

We showed them around our chapel and crematory, and discussed our processes and what working here means to us all.

What was quickly apparent was what a passionate team CancerCare also have. We hit it off and our teams look forward to working together in the future 💛

CancerCare offer heartfelt support to individuals and families in their time of need, and following a tour of Preston Ireland Bowker funeral directors, Kat and Anna wanted to know more about our processes so they can better support people with any questions they might have.

🌿 OPEN DAY – SATURDAY 15TH AUGUST 🌿

We’re opening the doors of Lancaster & Morecambe Crematorium and would love to welcome you along on Saturday 15th August, from 11am until 3pm.

This is a great opportunity to come along, have a look around the crematorium and see behind the scenes, including a chance to visit the crematory and learn a little more about what happens here.

Our friendly members of staff will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions you may have, and Jon will also be leading his popular wildlife walks around the grounds, giving you the chance to discover some of the wildlife and natural areas we’re fortunate to have here. 🦋🌿🐦

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to come and see our grounds for yourself, see the work that goes into looking after them and find out more about what we’re doing to maintain and develop the space. 🌳🌸

There’ll be lots going on throughout the day, including:
🌸 Craft stalls
🍰 Delicious desserts from Heysham
🎺 Morecambe Brass Band
🎨 Arts & crafts hosted by Garstang Scouts

🌼Open Chapel Today🌼

Today, Tuesday 28th July between 1pm-3pm our chapel will be open for quiet reflection.

We are also giving away trays of bedding plants 🌸 in honour of having the lovely judges from North West in Bloom visit this morning. Please help yourself to a tray or two, share them, and brighten up a spot near you 🌼

Huge thanks to the judges for their lovely comments, support and suggestions for the future.

We'll leave some Open Day fliers in chapel, so feel free to pickup one or two of those to share too.
