Every week in the Bay Hospitals Charity Lottery you have the chance to win the £25,000 jackpot plus many other fantastic cash prizes, and at the same time you are helping Bay Hospitals Charity raise vital funds to support Morecambe Bay Hospitals.

You can purchase more than one entry and you can pay for your entries by Direct Debit, credit/ debit card or cheque. Visit the Unity Lottery website to see all the different ways to enter.

Discover Chapel Island with Bay Hospitals Charity on 5 September 2026
Experience the magic of Morecambe Bay by joining Bay Hospitals Charity on a memorable guided walk to Chapel Island, a hidden gem in the Leven Estuary surrounded by vast, ever‑changing sands.
Setting off from Canal Foot near Ulverston, the journey takes you across the open shoreline, offering spectacular views and a real sense of the Bay’s scale and beauty. After crossing the River Leven, we will make our way to Chapel Island itself, where walkers can take time to explore and spot the diverse wildlife that calls the island home. You will also pass the historic Collins Weir, a long‑lost cart route that resurfaced in 2024 after more than 70 years beneath the sands and is expected to be visible again this year.
The route loops back to Canal Foot and covers approximately two to six miles, with the walk taking around three hours in total.
Although the walk is suitable for most people, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Safety is paramount, and you will be led across the shifting sands by Raymond Porter, the Bay’s highly respected and Royally appointed King’s Guide.
Places are now available, but numbers are strictly limited, so early booking is encouraged. We would love your company, please join us for an unforgettable day.

ASU Staff Take on Three Peaks Challenge to Improve Patient Care

Healthcare staff from the Acute Surgical Unit (ASU) are preparing to take on the demanding 3 Peaks Helvellyn Challenge ( Helvellyn, Lower Man and Whiteside on 26 July in a fundraising effort to enhance patient care.

The dedicated team will climb these mountains in just 24 hours, pushing themselves physically to raise funds for much-needed equipment that will directly benefit their patients.

Their goal is to raise £3,000 to purchase specialist patient weighing scales, equipment that plays a vital role in improving comfort, dignity, and safety in care. These scales not only support accurate clinical assessments but also ensure patients are handled with greater respect and ease during what can often be challenging procedures.

The team’s motivation stems from their daily experience on the ward, where they see first-hand the difference that the right equipment can make.

“We are going the extra mile for our patients,” the team said. “This challenge reflects the commitment we have to improving patient experience and ensuring the highest standards of care.”

Community support will be crucial in helping the team reach their fundraising target. Donations will go directly towards purchasing the equipment, making an immediate and meaningful impact on patient care within the unit.

The ASU team is encouraging individuals, local businesses, and community groups to get behind the challenge and support their efforts.

How to Support 🩷💜

Donations can be made to help the team reach their target of £3,000. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help improve the experience of patients receiving care. Community support will be crucial in helping the team reach their fundraising target. Donations will go directly towards purchasing the equipment, making an immediate and meaningful impact on patient care within the unit.

Rotary Clubs’ kind donations help fund Sensory Trolley for A&E patients with additional needs.
Patients with dementia, learning difficulties and sensory needs are being supported by a new Sensory Trolley in the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary thanks to donations from two local Rotary Clubs.
The initiative, led by Annette Shepherd, Patient Experience Lead at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT), has been supported by a donation of £500 from Lancaster Loyne Rotary Club and £200 from Carnforth Rotary Club. Additional funding for the trolley came from Bay Hospitals Charity.
