✨ Wishing this lovely pony the very best of luck as he heads off to the Royal International! 🐴🍀

It was a pleasure to see this regular today for a pre-competition sports massage, helping him feel comfortable, supple and ready for the busy days ahead.

With competition season in full swing and the recent dry weather leaving the ground much firmer than usual, many horses are working on harder surfaces. This can leave them feeling more muscle tension and stiffness than they might normally experience, especially with increased travelling, training and competing.

A pre-competition sports massage is a great way to support your horse by:
🐎 Encouraging relaxation and suppleness
🐎 Helping maintain comfort and freedom of movement
🐎 Supporting them through the demands of training and competition
🐎 Identifying any areas of muscle tension that may benefit from attention before they head into the ring

If you’ve got shows coming up over the next few weeks, now is the perfect time to get your horse booked in. Whether you’re aiming for a local show or a championship like the Royal International, every horse deserves to feel their best.

Good luck to all my clients competing this season, I can’t wait to hear how you all get on! 💙

Earlier this week I visited this lovely little pony, who was presenting with a significant build-up of tension through her neck, which had developed into a stress point. This was causing her to be reactive to even the lightest touch 🤕

Throughout the session, I carefully worked through the affected muscles, releasing the tension and addressing the congested fascia. By the end of the treatment, she was much more comfortable, allowing her neck to be palpated without the same reactive response 🤩

A fantastic result, leaving this little girl feeling much happier and more comfortable 💙

If your horse is showing changes in behaviour, becoming sensitive to touch, or not moving quite as freely as usual, muscular tension may be a contributing factor. Regular bodywork can play an important role in maintaining comfort, supporting movement, and helping your horse perform at their best. 🏆

If you’d like to find out more or book your horse in for a treatment, feel free to send me a message. 📩📞

🌸 Spring is here 🌸 is your horse ready for the season ahead? 🐎

As the days get longer and the competition season begins, many horses are returning to more regular work or increasing their workload. Just like human athletes, their muscles need to be prepared for the demands ahead.

Equine sports massage can help:
✔️ Improve flexibility and range of movement
✔️ Reduce muscle tension and soreness
✔️ Support recovery after harder work
✔️ Help prevent injury as workload increases
✔️ Keep your horse feeling comfortable and performing at their best

Starting the season with supple, healthy muscles can make a huge difference to how your horse feels and performs throughout the year.

If you’d like to help your horse feel their best and set them up for a successful season, feel free to get in touch to book or to find out more.

Let’s make this your horse’s best season yet🙌🏼

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a horse truly let go of tension in their sessions🧘🏼‍♀️ here you can see a beautiful shoulder release unfolding🙌🏼

The soft eye blinks, the big yawns, and those small changes in posture are all clear signs that tension is easing. Releasing restriction through the shoulder allows for freer movement, better performance, and a much happier horse overall.

With the school holidays here and many horses working that little bit harder, now is the perfect time to get your horse booked in 📲
Consistent muscle care supports comfort, performance, and longevity of our horses, because the better we look after their bodies, the longer and healthier their ridden careers can be 💛

As 2025 comes to a close, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me and my business through its very first year.

From my wonderful clients to all the lovely ponies I’ve had the privilege of working with, I’m so grateful for the trust, encouragement, recommendations and kind words along the way. Taking the leap to start my own business was a big and slightly scary step, and the support I’ve received has made it so rewarding.

I’m so excited to head into 2026 with such a brilliant group of clients (and their ponies!) and can’t wait to see what the next year brings. Thank you for being part of this journey 🤍

✨ Another brilliant spa day completed! ✨

It’s been so lovely to see all the horses enjoying some well-earned relaxation and coming away feeling looser, happier and more comfortable. Spa days are a fantastic way to support your horse through the winter months, helping to ease muscle stiffness, soothe achy joints and keep them feeling supple even when work levels change or the weather limits riding 🌧️ ❄️

Jack here is a regular spa-day visitor and absolutely loves them🥰

📅 Next spa day: Sunday 25th January
Spaces are limited, so please pop Bowland Equine Therapy a message if you’d like to book your horse in 🤍
