r prescription only medicine and local anaesthetic license. Our podiatrists are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and members of the Royal College of Podiatry. They have experience working in both the NHS and private practice and are committed to providing patients with an excellent level of foot care, we believe that healthy feet help us to stay active, which is a key component enhancing overall wellbeing. Every new patient receives a full assessment allowing us to tailor treatment plans to accommodate the individuals foot care needs.

One of the biggest myths we hear is that nail reconstruction is purely a cosmetic treatment.

It's actually for anyone who wants to feel more confident showing their feet.

It can also support a nail that’s been damaged by trauma, fungal infection or years of wear and tear. Nail reconstruction can restore the appearance of the nail while we continue managing the underlying condition.

This isn't about pretending the problem isn't there.

It's about helping people feel comfortable wearing sandals, going on holiday, getting changed at the gym—or simply looking down at their feet without feeling self-conscious.

🐄 "Nate the Hoof Guy... but for humans?" 👀

We get this comparison in the comments a lot!

But this isn't a hoof...

It's a human foot with an apical callus hiding something underneath.

From the outside, it just looks like thick, hard skin.

But underneath that callus was a wound caused by ongoing pressure.

This is why hard skin isn't always "just hard skin".

For some patients, especially those at higher risk of foot complications, callus can hide what's happening underneath and make it harder to spot a problem.

By carefully removing the callus and debriding the area, we can properly assess the wound and apply appropriate care.

This is why regular podiatry checks can be so important. 👣

👣 We can tell how you walk from this.

This might look like a simple patch of hard skin...

But to a podiatrist, it's full of clues.

Callus develops where the foot experiences repeated pressure and friction. The location, shape and thickness can tell us a lot about how someone walks and how their foot is functioning.

Sometimes it's caused by:
• Increased pressure through the big toe
• A stiff big toe joint
• A bunion
• Changes in foot biomechanics
• The way weight is distributed when walking

Removing the callus provides relief, but understanding why it formed is just as important.

Because when you treat the cause—not just the symptom—you can help keep feet comfortable for longer. 💜
