Next in our Meet the Team series is Lisa Parry, one of our reception team.

Lisa has worked across sales, administration and healthcare, including roles in clinical diagnostics, a hospital and a GP surgery. She moved to Cornwall to live somewhere rural and closer to the coast, and joined Market Street Clinic bringing all that healthcare experience with her.

Outside work you'll usually find Lisa walking her two Cocker Spaniels, out litter picking, or at a gig or festival — she's a big music fan. She also loves being outdoors and keeps a close eye on the news.

Summer holidays usually mean children are on their feet far more than usual, from beach days and bike rides to running around in sandals from morning until evening.

It is worth giving their feet a quick check now and then:

• Make sure shoes and sandals still fit comfortably
• Look out for rubbing, blisters or red marks
• Keep feet clean and dry, especially between the toes
• Choose footwear that matches the activity, rather than relying on the same pair all day

Children do not always explain foot pain clearly, so limping, avoiding certain activities or repeatedly taking shoes off can all be signs that something is not quite right. A little attention now can help keep them comfortable and active throughout the holidays.

Continuing our Meet the Team series, we would like to introduce Louise, one of our community podiatrists.

Alongside seeing patients at Market Street Clinic, Louise visits care homes and other community settings, helping people access podiatry support where they live.

Louise qualified in 1989 and brings more than 30 years of experience across NHS and private practice.

Her clinical interests include diabetic foot care, wound care, vascular assessment and podiatric dermatology. She also previously worked as a nail surgery
lead, supporting patients with more complex cases.

Outside the clinic, Louise enjoys sailing, walking and training gundogs, so she is rarely far from the outdoors.

With decades of clinical experience and a calm, practical approach, Louise brings a great deal of knowledge to the Market Street Clinic team.

Meet Aidan, one of the newer faces at Market Street Clinic.

Aidan became a podiatrist in 2021, but his route into the clinic has been anything but ordinary.

Before podiatry, he served in the Royal Navy as a submariner, where teamwork, calm thinking and clear communication were part of everyday life.

He has also worked in Older Adult Psychiatry, supporting people with dementia and more complex healthcare needs.

That experience gives Aidan a thoughtful, steady approach to patient care. He is passionate about helping people stay mobile, independent and comfortable.

We’re really pleased to now have him as part of the team.

A small but important step in verruca treatment.

Before the next treatment application, this verruca was carefully debrided to remove the hard skin sitting over the area.

Why does that matter?

Because verrucae often become covered with thickened skin, which can make treatment less effective if it is not properly reduced first.

This is why assessment and preparation are such an important part of treatment. It is not just about applying a product. It is about treating the right area, in the right way.

Meet Maahi, one of our podiatrists at Market Street Clinic.

Maahi completed her MSc in Podiatry in 2024 and previously earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, giving her a strong background in pharmacy and vascular healthcare.

Her interests include diabetic foot care, vascular assessments and nail surgery, and her approach is calm, careful and patient-focused.

Outside of clinic, Maahi enjoys travelling, painting and yoga, and is still exploring Cornwall one weekend at a time.

She is also a big fan of ginger, garlic and chia seeds, so we suspect she may be the healthiest member of the team.

An old injury can still affect how you move long after the bone has healed.

One of our patients fractured her right ankle and was left with ongoing pain and lateral instability. She had recovered from the original injury, but her ankle still did not feel properly supported.

After assessment, we made bespoke orthoses with lateral posting to help improve support and control when walking.

She is now pain free.

A brilliant outcome, and a good reminder that pain after an old injury is not something you always have to put up with.

Meet Mike, our Lead Podiatrist.

Mike brings more than 35 years of clinical experience to Market Street Clinic, with a background in diabetic foot care, dermatology, paediatrics and gait analysis.

His approach is simple: listen properly, explain clearly and help patients stay mobile, active and comfortable.

Outside of clinic, Mike volunteers as a Walking for Health Leader, supports the National Trust and fundraises with his local Rotary Club.

He is also a former World Marble Champion. Yes,we were just as suprised as you were!

Clinical experience, clear advice and a slightly unusual claim to fame. We are very lucky to have him leading the team.

Now this is the kind of progress we like to see.

After Lunula Laser treatment, this patient’s nail has returned to a healthy, clear appearance, and the fungal infection has resolved.

Fungal nails are not always quick to treat. They need the right advice, the right treatment plan and a little patience while the nail grows through.

A fantastic result for our patient, and a very satisfying one for the team too.

Concerned about a fungal nail? We can assess it and talk you through your options clearly.

Why are people with diabetes more susceptible to foot problems?

Over time, raised blood sugar levels can affect the nerves and blood supply in the feet.

This can mean small problems, such as cuts, hard skin, cracked heels or nail issues, may not be felt straight away and can take longer to heal.

Regular foot checks help identify changes early, before they become more serious.

At Market Street Clinic, we provide diabetic foot assessments, clear advice and appropriate treatment to help support your foot health, comfort and mobility.

If you have diabetes, regular foot checks are an important part of looking after your health. Contact the clinic to book an appointment.
