The best outcomes don’t always fit on a chart. 🤍

As audiologists, we measure hearing carefully - and we should. But the moments I’ll always remember are the ones patients share when they tell me they’ve started living again.

This message made my day. 💚

A few days ago, I saw this patient and identified a sudden sensorineural hearing loss, advising her to attend A&E immediately.

Today, her hearing is back to normal. 🙌

NOTE: not every blocked ear is caused by ear wax.

There was no wax to remove. Without a full audiological assessment, this could easily have been dismissed as “nothing there” rather than recognised as a hearing emergency.

Sudden hearing loss needs urgent assessment and treatment. Acting quickly can make all the difference.

Sometimes, the most important thing we do isn’t removing wax or fitting hearing aids. It’s recognising when someone needs urgent medical care.

Com muita tristeza, informo que estamos suspendendo temporariamente o curso de Remoção de Cerúmen por Microssucção.

Acredito que a Fonoaudiologia brasileira deve ser progressista, baseada em evidências e aberta à evolução da prática clínica. Esta é uma técnica que utilizo há mais de 15 anos com segurança e excelentes resultados, e que faz parte da rotina de muitos fonoaudiólogos em diversos países.

Espero que, no futuro, possamos avançar nessa discussão. E quando o Brasil estiver pronto para essa conversa, terei o maior prazer em compartilhar esse conhecimento com vocês.
