I am so looking forward to getting back on the mat πŸ©·πŸ™

I've had some time off and I've been giving some thought to what I love to most about my job... And of course it's the incredible people I get the privilege to work with... But also I love planning classes that offer the opportunity to explore poses with time to look at different variations and ways in and out of them. In the last quarter of this year, I'll be sharing a lot more classes that look in depth at the history, philosophy & anatomy of individual yoga poses. So excited to get moving with you all 😘

In the Yoga Sutras Patanjali talks about Abyhasa - slow and steady progress. So yes, doing a handstand is not the goal of Yoga, but being focused and hard working and disciplined is exactly what Yoga teaches... however...

Patanjali also suggests that we must balance our progress with Vairagya (non attachment/not letting our ego or our misperceptions/fears cloud our mind).

I really can hold myself to some crazy standards sometimes, expect so much of myself, and then not always speak kindly to myself.

I see this hyperfocus on perfection with people who practice Yoga with me too sometimes. So I pose the question: if we're trying, if progressing, maybe we're living our Yoga well and deserve our own kindness and care?

Soppy one for some Monday Motivation 🩷 looking forward to getting back on the mat with everyone in September 😘

I love this sport. Not going to lie I wish it didn't hurt so much, but I guess that's what all the Yoga's about 🀣πŸ₯°

I love wakeboarding 🩷

3 months ago I crashed my wakeboard in Turkey and I tore my abdominal/hip muscles so badly I could hardly stand. It's been a real journey to heal myself and it's been pretty painful. There's no quick fix, no easy answers. But this is how I've got myself pretty much back to normal:

- trained consistently, increasing from body weight to always progressively heavier loads
- nourished myself and kept hydrated
- allowed as much rest as possible, aimed for a decent night's sleep regularly
- let myself feel grumpy, sad and rubbish, being injured isn't fun

So grateful today to be back upside down and excited to enjoy even more movement from now on πŸ©·πŸ©·πŸ’™πŸ©΅
