Sports Therapy now available at Alexander Park!!

In addition to the practice in Much Marcle, Alex Smythe Sports Therapy is also now operating at the idyllic Alexander Park Golf & Spa Resort on the Ledbury to Hereford road.

For those who are already members at the club, you may recognise me as the gym instructor/personal trainer down at the gym - I’ll still be taking bookings for personal training and running classes don’t worry!

Sports therapy includes injury assessment, effective treatment and rehabilitation.

Sports massage includes a full body massage to release built up tension and provide effective treatment for muscle aches and strains.

Pre-event massage, post-event massage and taping also available!

One of the most common issues I come across in the practice is a combination of tension and pain in the neck and shoulder/upper back area. This can occur due to various reasons, however the most frequent cause is a fairly recent phenomena labelled “tech neck” (something a lot of us are guilty of including myself!)

This is caused by maintaining the below head position for relatively long periods of time, resulting in the muscles in the back of the neck and upper back working hard to hold up the weight of the head (which on average is around 11lbs!)

Experienced a huge influx in new patients within the last couple of months as sporting events are back underway and the results of performing pre-event and post-event sports massage have been fantastic.

Pre-event and post-event massage reduces the risk of injury, engages the appropriate muscle groups and significantly increases recovery before and after intense exercise.

Sports massage is beneficial for those who are just thinking of getting into fitness, right up to Olympic athletes (and all of those in between!)

Sports therapy and rehabilitation for those who are experiencing any pain, aches or injury is of course also available.
