šŸƒšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Running with my fave and both practicing our running technique tips… Char using the rolling pin to keep her left arm lifted to allow adequate trunk rotation and I’m working on the knee drive through & upright posture, particularly when tired. Added challenge of pushing the buggy, but hey, we were out and enjoying it šŸ«¶šŸ»

šŸ’› 4 hours of undisrupted sleep followed by a 5km reservoir run with the buggy have left me feeling like I’m winning at life this morning…it’s no exaggeration to say that this is only the third time in 11 months that I have had more than 2 hours continuous sleep. Earlier this week I literally felt like I couldn’t go on and had a minor 1am breakdown. Feeding my baby is amazing but also can feel relentless, depleting and lonely at times…fortunately with support from my number one and being able to take a more logical (albeit caffeine fuelled) perspective in the light of day, I was able to remind myself that everything is only temporary and I am doing my best.

Sleep deprivation is BRUTAL and I’m sending love to any of you out there raising little ones that are battling through these sleepless nights and still showing up each day šŸ«¶šŸ»

Here’s to more sleep & more of this sunshine please ā˜€ļø

🩶Celebrating 21 years since we met at university….couldn’t think of a better way to have a reunion than running around the city that our friendship began! 24km of trails, over 3 hours moving time but not a minute without something to say (well the boys darted off pretty quick so missed out on getting their ears chewed until post race drinks 🤣).

Genuinely feel so lucky to have these guys, thanks for sticking around and here’s to many more years to come.

What event are we doing next? Probably best we don’t leave it 21 years until the next one!

šŸ–¤ I feel like an ode to the gym deserved a space on my grid…you may have noticed I’ve been sharing my workouts on my stories a lot recently, which may be in part due to a great social tagging competition they are doing, but it definitely runs deeper than that for me.

Exercise has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played in sports teams at school, I joined a gym with my mum in my teens, I had a gym membership at uni, I have been part of lacrosse and netball teams, taken part in running events, duathlon as, triathlons, big hikes and bike rides….being active is what I do and enjoy.

But it’s also how I survive…on the difficult days, the long days, the days after a sleepless night, the days when you feel like you’ve had a million parenting fails, the days when you’re frazzled with yourself and your partner, exercise keeps me sane.

I’ve said it before, but solo exercising is not my go to, working out with others is my bag. That’s how I thrive. I need social connection (we all do to some degree), I like to be in company!

I joined the Yard in 2023, a year after having my first baby, feeling ready to get back to a bit of me that had been missing post covid home workouts and navigating this postpartum journey. This is the longest gym membership I’ve had and I’m planning on sticking around.

When I say it’s a great community gym, I mean it. The classes are small but friendly, we check in to see how our week has been, moan about the weather and talk about upcoming holidays but we are all showing up to do something positive for ourselves. Some days I lift heavier and push harder, other days I’m just glad to be amongst it, moving my body can be enough…but I’m always here for the chat 🤣. We support each other and cheerlead for the goals. Sometimes we go for coffee, sometimes there’s Prosecco, there’s even a book club!

If 1:1 is more your thing, then the PT’s here are šŸ‘ŒšŸ» and will sort you out with a programme to meet your needs.

šŸ“ššŸ’› Recharge time….trying to build in some downtime early with this one and remind myself of the importance of this too! In a world that demands us to keep moving to keep up, I can’t help but feel we forget to have slow moments too. Hoping my girl continues to get joy from books just like her big sister & mummies šŸ«¶šŸ»

Happy Monday to everyone….it’s going to be a hot week!

🩵Say yes to more adventures…it can definitely feel like a lot with a baby and small child, especially when going away somewhere, all the packing, all the stuff, making plans but it’s always worth it.

This was our last day of our lakes holiday and we’d checked out of our accom (not easy with kids, iykyk!) and went to climb a fell. We reached the summit and a highlight of our holiday, with this being the first mountain our eldest hiked on her own legs, and ending our day there to head home would have been great.

But….it was a gorgeous day and the lake below was calling and even though the initial faff of getting parked, accessing the lakeside with said children, a paddle board, wetsuits and a pushchair was hard…I’m so glad we did!! Seeing our girl on the paddle board and then jumping off the jetty was awesome. We all got to soak up the Lake District feels for a couple more hours and then had two exhausted kids for the drive home, which meant the adults could enjoy the views and an actual conversation 🤣

Putting this here as a reminder to myself that these moments sometimes happen in the most spontaneous and unexpected ways and I’m here for saying yes more to adventures with my girls šŸ«¶šŸ»

šŸƒšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ‘ŸNothing like going for a run with a friend that works in the military…hills & hard work but another picture perfect route (even if we did have to navigate past a bull, scale a wall and commando roll under an electric fence)!

Nearly 15km in the bank and back to finding joy in my running šŸ«¶šŸ»

šŸƒšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøā€āž”ļøA 12km run for me and a first junior park run for my biggest girl and her buddies šŸ«¶šŸ»ā€¦what a great Sunday morning it was!

Feeling very proud of my girl for completing her first 2km park run and seeing her besties not only join her but cheerlead for her when she found it tough…we all need friends like that šŸ«¶šŸ»

Not sure how I’ve only just found this route of the Dales Way from Ilkley to Addingham but it was a beautiful circular run and I’m sure I’ll be doing it again.

All topped off with an iced coffee from made for a very wholesome morning ā˜•ļøšŸ‘ŒšŸ»
