If you’ve been told you need hip surgery, you may have come across both options and wondered which is right for you. Here’s a simple breakdown👇

➡️Total Hip Replacement: A hip replacement removes the worn-out bearing surfaces which are the cause of pain. The socket is replaced with an artificial socket implanted into the pelvis . The femoral head is replaced by a metal or ceramic ball which is attached to a metal stem fixed into the top of the thigh bone (femur). The new head and socket glide smoothly together restoring mobility and relieving pain.

➡️Hip Resurfacing: Unlike a traditional hip replacement, hip resurfacing involves reshaping the ball of the hip joint and fitting a smooth metal cap, rather than removing the entire joint. This approach preserves more of the natural bone and maintains anatomy that is closer to the body's natural structure.

❓So who is hip resurfacing best suited to?
It can be suitable for active individuals between 35-50, this can offer several advantages, including:

✅Supporting a more natural walking pattern
