So yesterday David completed the Leeds Half Marathon 1:39:10 🏃♂️
A result I’m really pleased with, especially considering the training build-up was a little different this time around. Running mileage has been relatively modest over the last 6–7 weeks, very rarely getting above 20 miles per week, but I’ve consistently included two strength sessions in the gym each week alongside the running.
It’s another reminder that training doesn’t always have to mean huge mileage. A sensible balance of running load, strength work, recovery and consistency can still produce good performances.
As for the event itself, I thought the Leeds Half Marathon was superbly organised from start to finish. The crowd support around the course was absolutely incredible — possibly the best I’ve experienced in terms of both atmosphere and numbers.
A couple of standout spectator signs included:
😂 “Don’t be sh*t”
😂 “Don’t trust that fart”
Brilliant encouragement at exactly the right moments!
Yes, the course is a little hilly, but certainly nothing too extreme, and overall it’s just a fantastic race experience. I’d highly recommend it to anybody considering stepping up to a half marathon.
