Job Vacancy Alert!

The Football Association (FA) are recruiting six specialist reps to their Independent Mental Health Expert Panel (IMHEP).

The Panel aims to bring together specialists to provide independent multidisciplinary oversight, consultation, reflective supervision and expert guidance regarding complex mental health cases. The focus of the panel is to support an internal workforce of c.1000 colleagues, for whom we have a duty of care to support and protect mental health and wellbeing.

Representative Roles:

👉Clinical Psychologist
👉Occupational Psychologist or Organisational Consultant
👉Neurodiversity Specialist
👉Health and Safety Representative
👉Human Resource Specialist

CASES Webinar from the Physical Activity for Health Division

The first in a four-part series titled 'A neighbourhood approach to a physically active society: Working together across primary care and the physical activity sector to get people moving more.'

First session: Tuesday 6 October, 12.30-1.30pm

This webinar will explore why, despite decades of compelling evidence and numerous national initiatives, hashtag remains difficult to embed within healthcare and communities, and to identify how a neighbourhood-based approach could better connect healthcare, local government and the physical activity sector.

Panel discussion with experts from primary care, policy, physical activity practitioners and academia, including Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi, Prof John Buckley and Kris Sorenson. We'll discuss what we can learn from the past and reflect on where we are now with encouraging people to live more physically active lifestyles, including how we can work better together across sectors. We'll also have plenty of time for audience Q&A.

Explore the latest CASES Endorsed Course Programme from the Northern Doctoral Training Network for Sport and Exercise Psychology.

We are delighted to endorse this programme of training, which offers 2 CASES CPD Credits per workshop. Booking is essential as these are live online workshops. The workshops are free.

The sessions are suitable for doctoral students on research degrees in sport and exercise psychology. However, we would welcome other students and practitioners who are keen to learn about the research methods used in the area.

Prof Zoe Knowles FCASES is due to conclude her second term as CASES Chair in November 2027. Following open recruitment from eligible members and after a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors, CASES is delighted to propose a new term for Prof Zoe Knowles FCASES, who, in 2021 became the first female Chair of the Association.

The new term of three years, from November 2027, will see Prof Knowles FCASES take the Association through its next strategy.

Prof Knowles said, “I am thrilled to continue leading CASES which has fantastic Board, HQ staff, volunteers and a membership passionate about making a difference for students, academics and practitioners.

"There are undoubtedly challenges within the sector, and CASES has made measurable contributions to debates, policies and advocacy work to support the profession and its standards both nationally and internationally.

"We will continue to grow our reputation and influence over the next few years through our current and future strategy and support members who wish to get involved through projects and initiatives as we do so.”

At the AGM 2026, (4.30-5.30pm, Wednesday 11 November), the Board will formally seek ratification from the membership of the election of Prof Zoe Knowles FCASES as incoming Chair-Elect.

👉 While sport and exercise science is often associated with athletic performance, its application extends far beyond traditional sporting environments.

, personnel, workers, and other occupational groups face significant physiological and psychological demands that closely mirror those experienced by elite athletes.

This special interest group was created to provide a forum for professionals working in this space, encouraging collaboration across disciplines including physiology, psychology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

The group welcomes members at all career stages and is committed to supporting practitioner development, strengthening research activity, and maintaining the high professional standards expected by CASES.
