There’s a lot of skincare advice online, but during a heatwave, some of your usual products could actually be making your skin more prone to pigmentation.

I was delighted to share my expert advice with Women&Home on why post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) becomes more common in hot weather and what you can do to protect your skin. woman&home

Using active ingredients like retinol or exfoliating acids isn’t the problem, but if you’re not protecting your skin properly with daily SPF, the combination of increased sun exposure and inflammation can leave you with stubborn dark patches that are much harder to treat than they are to prevent.

My advice? Keep your skincare consistent, wear a broad-spectrum SPF every single day (yes, even in the UK!) and if you’re unsure how to adapt your routine for the warmer weather, we’re always happy to help.

Another day, another TikTok beauty trend… and this one is a hard no from me.

I was recently featured in Evoke magazine discussing why sunscreen contouring is one trend I wish would disappear. EVOKE

Your SPF is there to protect your skin, not to create a tan line.

Intentionally leaving areas of your face exposed to UV rays in the hope of contouring can increase your risk of pigmentation, uneven skin tone and premature ageing, and the damage often isn’t visible until years later.
