One of the most common questions parents have is:
“Should we wait for the NHS assessment, or should we consider going private?”
There is no right or wrong answer.
For some families, waiting feels manageable. For others, the uncertainty can be incredibly difficult, particularly when a child is struggling with friendships, emotional regulation, school demands, anxiety, or self-esteem.
A diagnosis doesn’t change who your child is.
However, for many families, understanding why things feel difficult can bring clarity, validation, and access to the right support.
If you’re currently weighing up your options, I hope this post helps you think about what feels right for your child and your family.
Have you faced this decision? What factors influenced your choice?
