If an egg can produce young animals 🐣, the same animals lay those eggs 🐓,
If the sun can rise each morning ☀️, the night can surely return 🌙,

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine practiced today. By placing single-use sterilized pins into specific points on the body, it can help regulate hormones, calm the nervous system, promote blood flow to vital organs, and decrease inflammation. It is virtually painless and very relaxing. Many new patients come in petrified of needles, I let them know that I treat babies and children a lot in clinic and most don’t even fuss. In fact, manyof my adult patients fall asleep during their treatments.

Acupuncture and Fertility

If a woman is having trouble conceiving, it is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist’s job to figure out why.
Emotional stress is most common barrier she sees preventing women from getting pregnant. “When this is the case, I can help flush cortisol (stress) from her body. When her body is under distress, it is not as willing to conceive because it is unsure if it’s strong enough to support both the woman and a baby.”

“It does not mean that her body is weak or infertile. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. It means that her body is brilliant and is patiently waiting for her to become healthier so she can confidently carry a baby full term. Once I help let go of her stress, then her body becomes ready and able for life’s next adventure.” Acupuncture can also assist in treating other causes of infertility including endometriosis, PCOS, painful or irregular menstruation, and recurrent miscarriages. It is a well-known adjunct to those undergoing IVF.

Acupuncture and Pregnancy

The benefits from acupuncture continue from the beginning stages of pregnancy right up until the very end. You may be wondering if acupuncture is safe during pregnancy. “Of course it is, as long as it is done by a licensed and qualified TCM acupuncturist. I treat many women and the relief that they receive from treatments are quite remarkable”.

Did you know that acupuncture can relieve or eliminate morning sickness? That hormonal headaches can be treatable? That you don’t need to put up with hemorrhoids or varicose vein pain? Seeing an acupuncturist can be your one-stop shop for many pregnancy ailments.

Acupuncture and Labour

This seems to be what acupuncture is known for– effectively turning breeched babies and preparing women for labour. “I generally start preparing women for labour at 37 weeks. During these treatments, we address any underlying fears, help ripen (soften) the cervix, help baby’s head engage into ideal positioning, and teach the body how to promote efficient contractions”. Patients who get acupuncture throughout their pregnancies, especially in 3rd trimester report faster and less complicated deliveries.

Acupuncture and Beyond Pregnancy

Acupuncture has been used for centuries to help women recover from childbirth. “What I treat most for post-partum women is insufficient lactation”.

Acupuncture is known to help clear blocked milk glands, can encourage the ‘let-down’ reflex, and can increase the body’s ability to produce more milk.“This can be such a stressful time for new moms. Some have only imagined themselves breastfeeding, and when the possibility of them needing to supplement becomes a reality, it can be devastating.”

“Acupuncture treatments can make a remarkable difference”. It is also helpful at treating Post Partum Depression, Post Partum Anxiety and C-Section scar reduction and recovery.

Dragonfly Acupuncture Leeds offers a unique service by bringing the treatments to you, for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home

There is such an amazing tool for our wellbeing that surrounds us all, some more so than others but even urban green spaces can bring such nurture to us🌿☘️🍃

There is an unspoken reset that happens the moment you step off the pavement and into the unconditioned air of the wild.

Out here, the world operates on an entirely different frequency. Nature doesn't care about your inbox, your deadlines, or the low-grade background hum of modern anxiety.

A forest doesn't rush its growth to meet a quarterly goal; a river doesn't apologize for changing course. Standing among ancient trees or beneath a sky unfiltered by city light forces a sudden, welcome shift in perspective.

You realize how small your immediate worries actually are—and how expansive the world remains.

Being in nature strips away the performative layers we wear every day. It demands presence. Your senses reawaken to the crunch of gravel underfoot, the sharp scent of pine needles after rain, and the immense, grounding weight of absolute quiet.
That quiet isn't just an absence of noise; it's a presence that fills the space you usually crowd with distraction.

The true power of the wilderness isn't just that it offers an escape—it’s that it reminds you of what is real. You don't just visit nature to disconnect from the modern world; you go to reconnect with yourself.

When was the last time you stepped away from a screen and just let yourself be still outdoors?

Choosing Dragonfly Acupuncture Leeds isn't just about booking a treatment; it’s about inviting a specialised, nurturing healing experience directly into the sanctuary of your own home.

Led by yours truly, Chantal Nogbou, a highly experienced practitioner (and mum of four), this practice is uniquely designed for those who find it hard to carve out time for themselves—especially families, expectant mothers, and those managing busy Leeds life.

Here is why Dragonfly Acupuncture Leeds stands out:

1. The Ultimate Convenience: A Mobile Sanctuary
The most unique "superpower" of Dragonfly Acupuncture is that the clinic comes to you.
• No Commute Stress: Forget fighting Leeds traffic or hunting for parking. You can stay in your pajamas, and the moment your session ends, you can roll straight onto your own sofa or into bed to let the treatment "sink in."

• The "Mary Poppins" Bag: I arrive on your doorstep with everything—the couch, blankets, needles, and a wealth of knowledge—turning your living room into a professional healing space in minutes.

2. A Specialist in the "Journey to Parenthood"
While I treat a wide range of conditions, my expertise in fertility, pregnancy, and postnatal care is my souls passion.

• Fertility Support: Whether you are conceiving naturally or via IVF, she provides a supportive "cheerleader" environment combined with clinical expertise.
• Pregnancy & Beyond: From relieving morning sickness and preparing the body for labor to sacred postpartum sealing and nurturing, she holds space for mothers at every stage.

3. Healing for the Whole Family (Even the Little Ones)
Dragonfly Acupuncture Leeds a true Family Health practice. I am trained in Shonishin (non-invasive pediatric acupuncture) and Paediatric Tui Na (massage).
• Gentle Care: If your child struggles with sleep, digestion, or anxiety, she uses specialised techniques that don’t always require needles, making it a "no-fear" experience for kids.
• Home Comfort for Kids: Children are often much more receptive to treatment in their own familiar environment, surrounded by their toys and comforts.

4. Unique "Acupuncture Sound Baths"
For those seeking deep nervous system regulation, i love bringing a beautiful a rare synergy: One-to-One Acupuncture Sound Baths.
While the needles work on your internal energy (Qi), I use sound healing tools to wash over you, creating a multi-sensory experience that "unplugs" the brain from the daily grind more effectively than a standard massage ever could.

5. A Nurturing, "More Than Just Pins" Approach
My philosophy is rooted in the idea that "it takes a village."

* Bilingual & Empathetic: Speaking both English and Dutch, my consultations are famously thorough (covering everything from sleep to "poo and p*e"!) to ensure she treats the root cause, not just the symptom.

• Holistic Toolkit: Beyond needles, we may use Moxibustion (heat therapy), Cupping, or Acupressure "homework" so your healing continues long after i have driven away.

If you are ready for your pins, let's get you booked in ✨️

Have you booked your September Self care to help you rest and restore after a full on Summer?

Let’s be honest: between the endless ice cream runs, late-night gatherings, and keeping everyone entertained, summer “holiday ” isn't always particularly relaxing. If you’re emerging from the summer holidays feeling a bit like a well-loved, slightly melted icepop, you are not alone.

As the chaotic, sunny energy of summer gives way to the quieter pull of autumn, your body naturally craves a reset button. In traditional wisdom, late summer is the perfect bridge between seasons—a time to harvest your energy, dust off the beach sand, and gather yourself before the crisp autumn winds arrive.🍂🍁🍂

Acupuncture is your ultimate permission slip to lie completely still, uninterrupted, for 30 glorious minutes. (Yes, taking a nap while gently returning your nervous system to baseline counts as self-care!)

How post-summer acupuncture helps you recalibrate:
• Replenishing the Energy Bank: Recharges your batteries after months of go-go-go and extra sun exposure.

• Soothing the Digestive System: Helps settle your gut after a season of road-trip snacks, icy drinks, and barbecue feast overload.

• Strengthening Autumn Immunity: Fortifies your immune system early, giving you a protective coat before sniffle season begins.

• Grounding the Mind: Gently pulls your focus inward so you can step into the autumn routine feeling centered rather than scattered.
The golden hour of late summer is an invitation to slow your stride.

Get your September Acupuncture home visit booked in, take a deep breath, and let’s get you feeling grounded, cozy, and ready for sweater weather.

I am ready, with my pins to get you booked in ✨️

People often have the preconception that acupuncture will be painful and a not so nice experience, mainly because of their experiences with having their bloods taken or injections.

Sometimes with hesitation they will book in for acupuncture, often as a last resort as nothing else seems to be helping them with their symptoms.

As the needles go in the amazed faces look back at me.

😇'Wait? What? These pins are making me feel all floaty and chilled'.

😴'Oh my goodness I can't keep my eyes open I want to sleep.'

😮'How on earth are you doing this, so quick?'

🤩'Feel like I have just had a jug of sangria on a hot sunny day and it has gone straight to my head'.

These are just a few things uttered doing and after the acupuncture!!

Not an uncomfortable, painful experience but instead one that is deeply relaxing and pure bliss.

Have you had acupuncture? How did it feel for you?

And if you haven't had acupuncture yet, get yourself booked in so you can have your own experience ❤❤❤

Many awareness days pass me by but on World Photography Day it reminds me how much I enjoy taking photographs.

I remember my opa showing me how to use his SLR camera as a little one and what a joy it was to use that very same camera to take pictures of my very first months here in the UK.

There is so much beauty out there for us too notice but we are often in such a rush we miss these magical moments but I love seeing a scene while out and about and capturing that moment in time.

These pictures are some of my favourites anf I have them all as canvases in my bedrooms, each one a special memory, a special location.

Take time to slow down to see the beauty around you and maybe capture it too, dont forget to include yourself in some too.
