🤝 Refugee Week: Supporting Inclusion Across Our Workforce and Communities 🫱🏻🫲🏾
Refugee Week is an opportunity for colleagues across Leeds City Council and our partner organisations to come together to celebrate the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. As a workforce, many of us will work directly or indirectly with individuals and families who are new to Leeds. This week is a chance to reflect on how we can create more welcoming, inclusive environments — both in our workplaces and in the communities we support.

Supporting people new to Leeds
Alongside this, we encourage all colleagues to be aware of the “New to Leeds” guide, a helpful resource for migrants moving to Leeds from abroad.
This guide can support you in your role by helping you to:
Signpost individuals and families to local services
Support access to health and wellbeing services
Help people better understand how to navigate life in Leeds
Provide consistent, reliable information to those who may need it most
Being familiar with this resource means you can offer practical support in everyday interactions and help people feel more confident and connected in their new city.
Making a difference together
Small actions — from sharing information to creating welcoming spaces — can have a lasting impact. By using the tools and resources available, we can continue to build a city where everyone feels included, supported and able to thrive.
