Like so many across the funeral profession, everyone at David H Smith inc Mellor & Smith was deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific details that emerged over the weekend concerning the funeral director in Hull, Robert Bush.

Our thoughts are with all of the families and friends who have been affected by these deeply distressing events.

On the 21st July 2026 at Chesterfield Hospital, Alf, aged 90 years, passed away.

Beloved and devoted husband of Joyce, cherished dad of Nigel and Chris, dearest father in law of Julie and Catherine, treasured grandad of Alex, Joe, Eve and Thomas, much loved great grandad of Wilf, Ginny, Harry and Millie.

A friend to many, Alf will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Julia, originally of Ealing, London, relocated to Buxton some years ago and set her roots here. She was an eccentric, colourful lady with many friends and loved ones. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

Devoted wife of Paul, precious and loving mum of Kevin, Donna and Antonia. Andrea will be sadly missed by all of her loving family.
