We were delighted to welcome Immediate Past President Kevin Gutsell to Wood Street Optical as part of the ABDO Centenary Tour.

Kevin met Practice Director and ABDO member Desislava (Desi) Pirkova and recently retired DO Richard Heap, celebrating the dedication of both past and present members of our team. Richard qualified in 1980 and Desi in 2019, with both recognising the huge advances in technology and myopia management throughout their careers.

At Wood Street Optical, we’re proud of the people who have shaped our practice and those who continue to support our patients every day. As Desi says, “Helping people understand about spectacles allows better solutions for each patient”—a value that sits at the heart of our mission to provide personalised care for every individual.

Every so often, a frame just finds its person ~ And this was one of those moments. The shape, the subtle stripes, the delicate detailing… it all came together so effortlessly on her 😍
