A reminder that glass must not be left at our natural burial grounds. Glass is already against our regulations because of the danger of breaking. However, hot, dry weather makes the issue even more problematic.

Our team will remove any glass items immediately.

Myth Busting - Its no different to a standard funeral.

At our natural burial grounds we are dedicated to helping you arrange the appropriate goodbye for your loved one. There are no time constraints (we only conduct one full burial a day), you can arrange music, a special theme, or a picnic. For our family led services we also provide refreshments free of charge. We will work with you to provide a service as unique and personal as the life you are celebrating.

Myth Busting - We are running out of burial space.

Whilst this may be true in some metropolitan areas, in the main this is simply not true. There are now over 300 natural burial grounds in the UK with many close to major centres of population. It has been estimated that if every death in the UK resulted in a burial this would only count for 750 acres of land per year. And we have been burying our dead in the UK for thousands of years...

Answering your questions.

We receive a lot of questions regarding our ethos, care and service. So think it's right to try to give as much information we can in advance. We are proud of the service we provide to the bereaved and the environment, so are always ready to listen and do our best to help. Over the next few days we will answer some frequently asked questions.

Do you really only have one funeral a day? - Yes, we only conduct one full burial service a day. This allows the maximum time for you to say goodbye to your loved one without constraints.

Can we have a picnic at the graveside? - Yes, of course. We can also supply shelters, chairs, tables and blankets if required.

How do you dig graves? - All graves are dug by hand. This ensures care for the environment and respect for neighboring graves.

Can you help with every aspect of the funeral? - Yes, whilst we work with all local funeral directors, we can also provide full services for those who do not wish to use a traditional funeral director. Our team has many years of experience, and Christopher is Dip.F.D. (Diploma in Funeral Directing) qualified.

Can you supply coffins/caskets/shrouds? - Yes. We work with partners to provide environmentally friendly coffins, caskets and shrouds.

Can I book a plot in advance? - Yes. All plots can be personally selected and paid for in advance. You simply need to contact our team to make an appointment.

Myth Busting - The cost of Natural Burial.

Natural Burial is often much cheaper than local authority cemeteries (in some cases thousands of pounds cheaper). We also do not charge "out of area" fees so you can be buried at our natural burial grounds for the same price irrespective of where you live.

We can provide bird boxes, bat boxes, insect homes, bee habitats, and hedgehog homes, as memorials to help care for nature and the environment.

We are having a busy year caring for Scraptoft Natural Burial Ground. We have increased the size of the car park, fitted a new entrance gate, and added CCTV to the car park. But we are not finished yet, we will be fixing cycle racks, adding a composting area, and creating a new woodland area for ashes after Direct Cremations.

We will always do our best for the environment, our visitors, and those in our care.
