There’s a reason I ask so many questions. Probably a couple more than you were expecting.

Your cycle, sleep, digestion, energy, stress levels, medical history… and yes, occasionally things you probably didn’t expect to discuss with your acupuncturist.

In Chinese medicine, all of these clues help me build a picture of your individual pattern and identify where you need the most support.

For example, who knew your light periods and constant fatigue could actually be connected?

Chinese medicine has been looking at patterns like this for thousands of years.

I’ve been a little quiet on here over the summer, between seeing patients, studying and taking some time off.

I have my next space for a new acupuncture client in September. If you’d like to work with me, drop me a message.

These are the questions I get asked most as an acupuncturist specialising in fertility and women’s health.

Things I don’t care about as your fertility acupuncturist

The things that actually matter to me have nothing to do with what you wear to your appointment or how “together” you seem.

I care about how you’re really doing. The tears, the hard days, feeling like you’re carrying most of this journey, the hard moment of someone else’s pregnancy announcement even when you’re genuinely happy for them.

Bring all of it. There’s no judgement here, I’m here to support you.

Ovulation is near the end of your fertile window, not the start of it.

So if you’re saving TTC efforts for the day you ovulate, you might be a day late.

The reason is timing. S***m can live for up to five days in fertile cervical mucus, so they can be waiting when the egg arrives. The egg itself only lasts around 12 to 24 hours once it’s released. That’s why the chances build over the days before ovulation, peak the day before, then drop off fast.

It can take a while for s***m to make their way up and be ready to fertilise. What matters more is that they’re already there, primed, when the egg is released.

A note on the numbers: they show the chance of pregnancy from in*******se on a single day, relative to ovulation. They’re not your odds for the whole month, which depend on age and much else. Think of them as showing how much timing matters, not a personal monthly chance.

The days before ovulation matter more than the day itself. Waiting for a positive ovulation test can mean you’ve already missed the fertile days.

This is a lot of what I do in clinic. I help women pinpoint their ovulation and actually feel confident reading their own cycle, so the timing stops being guesswork.
