Impacted Ear Wax Removal from the Eardrum Using the WAXscope®️

This video demonstrates removal of deeply impacted cerumen positioned against the tympanic membrane.

When wax becomes lodged this deep within the ear canal, removal can be more technically challenging because there is very little margin for uncontrolled instrument movement.

The material therefore required careful progressive mobilisation while continuously monitoring its relationship with the eardrum.

The WAXscope® provided magnified HD vision, supporting precise instrument positioning and detailed visualisation throughout the procedure.

Procedure performed by Consultant Audiologist Mr Neel Raithatha at The Hear Clinic in Leicester.

® selected for a new community pilot

The pilot will bring with a specialist interest in ENT together with support to assess and treat a wide range of ear conditions closer to home.

Images and videos can be shared with hospital ENT teams for specialist guidance and onward referral where needed, aiming to improve access and reduce unnecessary hospital visits.

Following a successful trial, WAXscope® was selected for its magnification, high-quality imaging and 2-in-1 capability to support both ear examination and treatment.

The team also selected our Rai Ear Canal Suction Tips & Handles and Rai Manual Instruments after assessing them against the instruments they currently use.

We’re proud to support this new approach to community ear care.

Told It Was Ear Wax — But There Was a Discharging Eardrum Perforation

This patient had previously been told that the ear was full of wax.

During examination and clearance, however, a perforation of the eardrum with active discharge was visible.

This is why assessment before and during ear wax removal is so important. A blocked sensation, reduced hearing or debris in the ear does not necessarily mean that cerumen is the only issue present.

The iCLEARscope® provided continuous endoscopic vision, allowing the ear canal and tympanic membrane to be carefully monitored throughout the procedure.

Where a perforation and discharge are present, the wider clinical history and appropriate medical follow-up are important.

Procedure performed by Consultant Audiologist Mr Neel Raithatha at The Hear Clinic in Leicester.

Huge Amount of Ear Wax Removed from Inferior Recess with the WAXscope®️

This video demonstrates removal of a large accumulation of ear wax extending into the inferior recess of the external ear canal.

Anatomical recesses can make cerumen more difficult to visualise and access, particularly when the material sits away from the central line of sight.

The wax was carefully mobilised and progressively removed while the deeper recess was continually reassessed.

The WAXscope® provided magnified HD vision, supporting precise instrument control and detailed visualisation throughout the procedure.

Procedure performed by Consultant Audiologist Mr Neel Raithatha at The Hear Clinic in Leicester.

Extreme Ear Wax Removal Using the WAXscope®️

This video demonstrates the removal of a substantial ear wax impaction using the WAXscope®.

When a large volume of cerumen completely or substantially obstructs the ear canal, the deeper anatomy may initially be hidden. Removal therefore needs to be progressive, with the canal continually reassessed as each section of wax is mobilised and extracted.

The WAXscope® provided magnified HD vision throughout the procedure, supporting precise instrument positioning, controlled removal and continuous monitoring of the surrounding ear canal.

Procedure performed by Consultant Audiologist Mr Neel Raithatha at The Hear Clinic in Leicester.

Complex Removal of Crystallised Keratin from the Eardrum with T-Tube Following Antibiotic Use Using the WAXscope®️

This video demonstrates the removal of hardened, crystallised keratin adherent to the tympanic membrane in an ear containing a T-Tube.

The patient had recently used antibiotic treatment, and the remaining keratinous material had become dry and firmly adherent around the eardrum and ventilation tube.

Because the T-Tube needed to remain undisturbed, the material required careful progressive mobilisation rather than forceful extraction.

The WAXscope® provided magnified HD vision, supporting precise instrument control and detailed visualisation of the relationship between the keratin, tympanic membrane and T-Tube throughout the procedure.

Procedure performed by Consultant Audiologist Mr Neel Raithatha at The Hear Clinic in Leicester.

Severely Impacted Ear Wax Removal Using the WAXscope®️

This video demonstrates removal of a severe cerumen impaction using the WAXscope®.

When ear wax becomes densely impacted, visualisation of the deeper ear canal can be significantly restricted. Removal therefore requires a controlled, progressive approach with continuous reassessment as the obstruction is cleared.

The WAXscope® provided magnified HD vision throughout the procedure, supporting precise instrument positioning and detailed visualisation of both the wax and surrounding ear canal.

Procedure performed by Consultant Audiologist Mr Neel Raithatha at The Hear Clinic in Leicester.

Why Her Ears Get So Itchy: Hardened Keratin Removal Using the iCLEARscope®️

This patient requires professional ear clearance approximately twice a year because of recurrent accumulation of hardened keratin and ear wax.

As the material builds up, the patient develops significant itching and discomfort.

The hardened keratin is different from routine soft cerumen and requires careful progressive mobilisation rather than forceful extraction.

The iCLEARscope® provided continuous endoscopic vision, supporting precise instrument control and allowing the ear canal to be continually reassessed as the material was removed.

This case highlights how recurrent keratin accumulation can become both symptomatic and technically challenging, particularly when the material hardens between appointments.
