Wet & Wild!

With the appalling weather attempting to throw a spanner in the works of lads navigating themselves to our Friday night session, There was an anxiety that it would result in no one turning up!

Well the weather couldn’t stop 17 men from walking through them doors once again, Smaller numbers than we are used to But that really worked to our advantage tonight giving us smaller break off groups and enabling us to get to the real gritty conversations that needed to be had.

On a personal note my last couple of weeks sessions I had felt like I’d lost the mojo, lost a bit of the hunger in my belly but I couldn’t put my finger on why, I would like to thank my break off group tonight for reinstalling the energy and enthusiasm back into me after tonight’s group.

Modern Men Movement is a safe place to talk no matter how uncomfortable you feel, You will be welcomed warmly and given the opportunity to open up or if you need to you can listen to others sharing the experiences they hold on life.

This is a really important era where getting men talking will undoubtedly save lives, Send this to a friend or family member you think would benefit from this.

Have a great weekend 💙🩵🤍

Tonight showed again the reasons why members attend week after week….seeing how all these guys rallied round to look out for everyone is why this group started and will continue to grow stronger each Friday evening.

Sometimes climbing a mountain takes time but you can slide down that mountain quicker than you make your way up….but together we continue to climb 🧗

From Ashley Noel Walker

I really needed support tonight and it was lovely to see everyone come together to help one another. Some difficult questions were raised and everyone answered them well and thoroughly. This demonstrates the importance of sometimes needing that space to open up and get things off your chest. I’ve noticed a lot of positive change in individuals over the last few months. They’ve built confidence to have fluent conversations and that’s a truly valuable trait. Well done to everyone involved.💙💙

From Jake Elliott
Today I turned 29, and what better place to spend the evening than with my brotherhood. A room that over the last 8 months has been vital to my recovery and has kept me on the straight and narrow, allowed me to ask myself the difficult questions, and feel heard as a human. When I entered that room as a stranger, I never thought I’d be leading the session.
Tonight’s conversation was powerful as always, honest and real. A conversation based on different life issues and stresses, different backgrounds and addictions, but all connected to get better for themselves and their loved ones.
A meeting at Modern Men celebrates those that have had a good week and supports those who haven’t, giving them hope that they can also get through the tough times and enjoy the same moments.
The room Lee Jobber has created is a special one; I will forever be in debt to him for what he’s done for so many men.
We wait, stand together, ready to help the next man that comes through the door, because if you have letters to leave, you have reasons to stay💙

Very Interesting evening tonight.
A Room full of drastically different people and personalities all brought together by the magic of Modern Men Movement, yet everyone shares the same goal of becoming a better person themselves. We were led by birthday boy Jake tonight! (Happy Birthday Jake) Brilliantly, with a great set of questions setting us up for interesting breakout groups.
We keep going !

From Paul Gask
I’ve just spent another couple of hours on a Friday evening with a bunch of men who I admire immensely!
Why?… because they are willing to spend their time not only sharing their experiences and feelings from the past week but sitting and listening to those of us who perhaps have not had as good a week as them. Not just that, but there’s no judgment, no condemnation, no “You should do this, you should do that”, just raw honesty and true friendship… I'm staggered by how good this is and so privileged to be involved in my own little way.
If you’re reading this, firstly “Thank you” for sticking with my ramblings… I can assure you that MMM is SO worth doing, so why not give it a try next week? I can’t guarantee that your life will be sorted, but I can guarantee that your life will be that little bit better because you took that incredibly brave step and walked in through the MMM doors. It doesn’t matter what week you’ve had, how battered you feel, because you’ll be welcomed and valued… 💙 💙 💙

From Ashley Noel Walker
Tonight’s session was fantastic. The difficult questions were answered honestly, and it’s great to hear diverse perspectives. Life is about recognising that two people aren’t the same and we all have different views and approaches to situations. Shared approaches can help others, even if they differ from what you need at the moment. These group sessions are all about sharing, supporting and offering friendly advice when needed. What helps one person might help another.

Well done everyone and a huge congratulations to Jake Elliot on his continued recovery and the guidance and support he’s provided over the past year. You deserve the best birthday ever. This time last year it was probably one to forget, but not this year. You can hold your head high and be proud of your turnaround. Seeing you smile and share your experiences helping another person out is wonderful. And we here at MMM are very proud of the man you are becoming.
Much love

Amazing attendance tonight with multiple first timers walking through the door in what was challenging heat.
We still had 4 groups on the go with men opening old wounds that had been hidden for years, Trusting other men with the darkest of memories they have been carrying alone.
Again receiving comments like “That’s the first time I’ve been able to talk about that, I feel so good” makes it all worth while.
Whilst we continue to become bigger and stronger as each week passes there will always be a chair for you reading this if you need it.
Thank you to all members and facilitators for delivering an excellent session again.

From Ash
I understand how difficult it is to open up about past experiences. Fortunately, I recognise the importance of doing so for healing and guiding others through their struggles. That’s why I remain a part of Modern Men. We support each other through tough times, and while it’s challenging, it’s inevitable that people can’t utterly understand your inner world unless you share your thoughts, and then they still might not understand but they can be an ear. Tonight, many men opened up for the first time to a group of men, and their shock at finding themselves sharing with a group was palpable. It takes real courage and strength to do that, and I feel incredibly proud of them. We shared individual stories that often resonated with each other, forming connections and briefly alleviating the loneliness that can sometimes accompany such experiences. While we are not fixing anyone’s problems, we’ve provided them with a listening ear, and that’s often all someone needs. Compassion, empathy and reflection are key traits that reveal a person’s true nature, and the lads tonight certainly demonstrated these qualities.
Turning sad souls to lifelong friends
Much love.

💙 A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS WEEK… 💙

We’ve changed the layout of our poster this week because there was simply too much powerful content to fit into one post without losing the important parts.

Rather than cutting down the words or leaving out people’s reflections, we’ve given each one the space it deserves.

Inside the poster you’ll find reflections from Ben, Paul Gask, Ash Walker, an MMM Facilitator and Lee Jobber, each sharing their own personal experience of tonight’s session.

Five different perspectives, but one common message — the power of men coming together, opening up, listening and supporting one another without judgement.

Take a few minutes to read through it. 💙

What a fantastic evening the Modern Men Movement had tonight! 💙🎳

It wasn’t about who’s the best at lawn bowls—it was about getting together, having a laugh, supporting one another, and making more great memories.

These evenings remind us that connection doesn’t always happen through deep conversations. Sometimes it’s simply spending time together, sharing a few laughs, trying something new, and knowing you’re surrounded by people who genuinely care.

A huge thank you to Kirby Muxloe Bowls Club for your warm welcome and hospitality. We really appreciate you having us and helping make the evening such a success. 💙

A massive thank you to everyone who came along. It’s amazing to see friendships continue to grow both inside and outside of our Friday night sessions.

Together, we’re proving that looking after your mental health can be as simple as showing up.

Really appreciate all your support. If anyone can donate or provide any vouchers it would be much appreciated thank you
