Children aged 4 years and over who are at risk of severe allergic reactions may now have access to a needle free adrenaline nasal spray following MHRA approval. The new treatment provides an alternative to traditional adrenaline auto injectors and could offer greater confidence for some families managing anaphylaxis. Speak to your allergy specialist or healthcare professional for advice about treatment options.

Hot weather can affect your medicines and how well they work.

Medicines left in hot cars, direct sunlight, bags or warm rooms may become less effective. This includes inhalers, insulin, tablets, EpiPens and hormone patches.

Some medicines can also increase the risk of dehydration, dizziness or sunburn during periods of high temperatures.

Please remember to:

• Store medicines in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Stay hydrated throughout the day
• Take extra care in the sun if your medication causes sun sensitivity
• Check the patient information leaflet for storage advice and side effects
• Speak to your pharmacist or GP if your medicine looks different or you feel unwell in the heat

Older adults, young children and people living with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease or kidney conditions may be more affected during hot weather.

If you are travelling or spending long periods outdoors, avoid leaving medicines in parked vehicles or warm bags.
