Alex Allan Nutrition

Alex Allan Nutrition Alex Allan BSc (Hons) NT, Dip BCNH, mBANT, regCNHC is a Registered Nutritional Therapist and BANT-registered Nutritionist.

After spending more than 20 years working in a corporate environment, I moved to Nutritional Therapy after discovering the diet and lifestyle changes transformed my health. Since then, I’ve wanted to share that life-changing experience and help other people. Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. I use a wide ra

nge of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows me to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. I consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. I never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. I will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.

Whether it's your fitness, your finances or your work, having the right information helps you make better decisions.
Your health is no different.

My Men's Health MOT is designed to give you a clearer picture of where you are now. We'll look at your health history, nutrition, lifestyle, body composition and any relevant blood test results, so you're working with information rather than guesswork.

You don't need to be feeling unwell to benefit.

Many of the men I work with simply want to understand their health a little better, know what's going well and identify where a few changes could make the biggest difference.

It's not about chasing perfect results or overhauling your lifestyle overnight.
It's about understanding your health and making informed decisions based on your own data.

If you'd like to find out more about the Men's Health MOT, you'll find all the details via the website link in my bio ⬆️🔗

When we think about healthy skin, it's easy to focus on cleansers, serums and moisturisers.

They all have their place, but your skin is a living organ. It relies on the nutrients you eat every day to help maintain its structure and support normal repair.

In one of my latest blogs, I look at:
• why nutrition matters for skin health
• the role of collagen and the nutrients that support it
• how gut health may influence the skin
• simple foods that can help support healthy skin from within

It's not about finding one miracle food or buying another supplement. It's about understanding how everyday nutrition can play a part alongside good skincare, sun protection and other healthy habits.

If you're interested in supporting your skin from the inside out, have a read.

Many of us look forward to a holiday as a chance to rest, recharge and come back feeling more like ourselves.
But what if you've had the break... and you still don't feel quite right?

Perhaps you're still feeling:
• Wired but tired
• Low on energy
• Struggling to sleep
• More stressed or anxious than usual
• Like you're just not quite yourself

Sometimes, these changes are easy to dismiss as part of midlife or a busy life. But if they're continuing despite taking time to rest, it may be worth understanding what's happening beneath the surface.
That's exactly what my Hormone Health MOT is designed to do.

Together, we'll take a detailed look at your health, lifestyle and symptoms, and where appropriate, use comprehensive hormone testing to build a clearer picture of what's going on. Rather than guessing, we use the information we gather to create a personalised plan that's tailored to you.

If you've been thinking, "I thought I'd feel better by now," perhaps it's time to look a little deeper.

Book a free discovery call to find out whether a Hormone Health MOT could be the right next step for you. There's no pressure or obligation, just an opportunity to explore your options together.

Scrolling gets a bad reputation sometimes, but it doesn't have to be a waste of time.

If you're already spending a few minutes on Facebook, why not spend them picking up a recipe, a nutrition tip or a bit of inspiration that you can actually use?
That's why Sarah and I created our free Facebook group, Back to Health with Sarah and Alex.

It's a friendly community where we share practical nutrition advice, exercise tips, recipes and simple ideas to help you look after your health.

You'll also find plenty of conversations about everyday health, so if you've got a question, there's a good chance someone else has wondered the same thing.
There's no expectation to keep up with everything that's posted. Dip in when you've got a few minutes, save ideas for later, or ask a question if there's something you'd like to know more about.

If that sounds like your kind of Facebook feed, we'd love you to join us:

One of the reasons I enjoy writing my monthly newsletter is that it gives me a little more space.
Some topics simply don't fit into an Instagram caption.

Sometimes I want to explain the "why" behind a nutrition recommendation, share a recipe in more detail, or explore a topic that comes up regularly in clinic.
That's exactly what Inspire is for.

Each month, I share practical nutrition advice, seasonal recipes, wellbeing tips and some of the conversations I'm having with clients every day.

It's not about following the latest health trend or completely overhauling your lifestyle.
It's simply a chance to learn a little more about nutrition and wellbeing in a way that feels realistic and manageable.

If you'd like to receive the next edition, I'd love to have you join us.

If you've ever searched for nutrition advice online, you'll know how quickly it can become confusing.
One person tells you to avoid carbohydrates.
Another says they're essential.
One expert recommends fasting.
Someone else tells you to eat every few hours.

It's no wonder people end up feeling stuck.

That's one of the reasons Sarah and I created our free Facebook group, Back to Health with Sarah and Alex.

It's a place where we share practical nutrition and wellbeing advice without the noise, the extremes or the latest social media trends.

Inside the group you'll find recipes, nutrition tips, wellbeing support and the opportunity to learn from qualified practitioners who are passionate about helping people make sustainable changes to their health.

We're not interested in quick fixes or perfect diets. Just sensible, evidence-based information and a supportive community of people who want to feel better and understand their health a little more clearly.

If that sounds like your kind of space, we'd love to welcome you.

Sometimes you know something isn't quite right, but it's difficult to put your finger on exactly what's changed.

Perhaps your energy isn't where you'd like it to be.
Maybe your digestion has become a little less predictable.
Or perhaps you've noticed changes in your sleep, weight, mood or overall wellbeing and you're not sure where to start.

Many of the people I work with don't come to me because they've received a diagnosis or been told they need help. They get in touch because they know they don't feel quite as well as they'd like to.

A free 30-minute health review call gives us the opportunity to talk about what's been happening, what you've already tried and what support might be most helpful for you.

It's simply a conversation.

A chance to ask questions, explore your options and get a clearer idea of what your next steps might look like.

The call can be done by phone or online, and there is no obligation to work together afterwards.

If you'd like to have a chat, you're very welcome to book a free call.

Summer is often portrayed as the season of rest and relaxation.
But the reality can look quite different.

Work still needs doing.
The diary fills up with barbecues, holidays and days out.
The routine that normally keeps everything ticking along disappears.
And before long, you find yourself feeling more tired than you expected.

If that's you, you're certainly not the only one.

In one of my blogs, I explore some of the reasons summer can feel surprisingly draining and share a few simple ways to support your energy and wellbeing during the busier months.

Inside the blog, I cover:
☀️ Why disrupted routines can affect energy and mood
💧 The role hydration plays in helping you feel your best
🥗 Simple nutrition habits that can support steadier energy
😴 Why sleep often suffers during the summer months
🚶 Small daily habits that can help you feel more like yourself again

We're not aiming for perfection. Sometimes a few small adjustments are all it takes to feel a little more balanced.

🥗 If you're looking for a simple way to make lunches a little easier, mason jar salads are well worth trying.

The idea is simple.
Layer your ingredients in a jar, starting with the dressing at the bottom and the salad leaves at the top.
That way everything stays fresh, crisp and ready to grab when you need it.

I particularly like them because you can prepare a couple at a time, making busy workdays feel a little less rushed.

A good mason jar salad might include:
🥕 Plenty of colourful vegetables
🥑 Healthy fats such as avocado or olives
🍗 A source of protein like chicken, tuna, eggs or tofu
🥬 Fresh salad leaves

When you're ready to eat, simply tip it onto a plate and enjoy.

I've shared the full recipe and step-by-step guide on my website.

Summer can be wonderful, but it can also be surprisingly busy.
Holidays to organise.
Days out.
Barbecues.
Visitors.
Work carrying on in the background.

Before you know it, you're spending lots of time looking after everyone else and very little time looking after yourself.

For me, self-care isn't usually about doing something elaborate.
It's often the basics.

Eating a proper lunch instead of grabbing something on the go.
Drinking enough water.
Getting outside for some fresh air.
Taking a short walk.
Going to bed a little earlier.
The small things that help you feel more like yourself.

So for International Self-Care Day, consider this a gentle reminder that your own health and wellbeing deserve a place on the list too.

What's one small thing you'll do for yourself this week?
