In my clinic, I often work with patients who come in for post op recovery only to realise we can also address old, long-standing restrictions, as well as working with their new scars.

No matter how old your scar or injury is, your body hasn't lost its ability to adapt and feel comfortable.

Do you have an older scar or long standing area of tightness you’ve given up on? Send me a DM to discuss how gentle scar work can help.

When you’re in pain or recovering, waiting only gives restrictions and swelling more time to set in. Early intervention is key to getting you moving and feeling better sooner:

Pain & Osteopathy: Don't tough it out, lets address what's going on.

Post Op MLD: Can start as early as the day after surgery (pending your surgeon’s rehab plan) to manage swelling and support healing right from the start.

Scar Therapy: Commences at 8 weeks post op, once tissue is fully closed and ready for targeted work.

Lymphoedema management: As soon as possible. Early support helps prevent further fluid buildup and tissue changes.

Lipoedema Management: As soon as possible. The earlier we support the tissue, the better we can manage discomfort and protect your mobility.

You don't need to guess when the right time is. If something isn't feeling right, reach out now.

I get it.
I offer a lot here at Nicola Louise Osteopathy.
It might not be easy figuring out what I do, and if I can help you.
So, the easiest way, is give me a call, and let's chat.

While hands on myofascial release and specialised scar techniques make up the core of my treatments, I also layer in these targeted tools as needed:

Treatment wax: Reduces friction on sore skin, provides essential grip for manual work, and locks in the perfect seal for cupping.

Soft lymph balls: Gentle, targeted pressure to support lymph node clearance and encourage fluid movement.

Firm mobilisation balls: Applied pressure for fascial tension and improve mobility around dense scar tissue.

Scar wand/IASTM: Specialised tools to aid in restoring tissue pliability.

Silicone cups: Negative pressure to lift fascial layers and decompress pinched nerves.

6D negative pressure tape: Micro-lifting technology for deep, continuous tissue decompression between sessions. This is also given as homework.

Standard K tape: Light continuous lift to support ongoing lymphatic flow and protect recovering scars.

Scar therapy works by modifying the mechanical properties of the surrounding tissue and improving nerve mobility:

Restoring Nerve Gliding (Neural Mobilization): In healthy tissue, nerves slide freely through surrounding muscles and fascia when you move. Fibrosis pins nerves down. Specialized nerve-gliding manual techniques gently stretch and coax trapped nerves to slide again, relieving tension and reducing entrapment pain.

Softening Surrounding Tissue: Techniques like specialized myofascial release, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), and deep friction massage help break up adhesions and increase blood flow. While they cannot make radiated tissue fully "normal," they make it more pliable, taking compressive pressure off the nerve.

Improving Joint & Muscle Range of Motion: Targeted stretching prevents contractures (permanent tightening of muscles/tendons), which can further pin or stretch trapped nerves.

When it comes to radiation, side effects aren't always immediate. They don't affect everyone in the same way, and not everyone will develop them.

While many people recover without long term issues, others might notice tissue tightness, pulling, or stiffness developing weeks, months, or even years after treatment has finished.

Understanding when these changes might occur can help you make sense of what your body is experiencing, so you know when to seek support.
