The DUTCH test is a comprehensive urine test that measures hormones, hormone metabolites and cortisol patterns, helping to give insights into symptoms such as fatigue, PMS, perimenopause, menopause, sleep issues and low mood.

Here’s how to prepare and collect your samples:

✨ Before collection:

• Avoid bananas, fava beans and creatine for 48 hours beforehand.

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before testing.

• Limit caffeine and avoid excessive fluids on collection days.

• Don’t drink anything for two hours before collecting samples.

• If you’re taking hormones or supplements, check the instructions included with your kit, as some may need to be paused before testing.

⏰ Collection times:

🌙 Bedtime

🌛 During the night (only if you wake to urinate)

☀️ Within 10 minutes of waking

⏰ Two hours after waking

📝 How to collect:

1. Fill in the labels on each collection strip.
2. Saturate the filter paper for 2–3 seconds.
3. Leave the samples open to dry completely for 24 hours.
4. Place the dried strips back into the bags provided.

📦 Returning your test:

• Place the samples and completed requisition form into the return mailer.

• Attach the prepaid label.

• Return your kit.

❄️ If you can’t return your samples within 48 hours, freeze them.

Save this post so you’ve got everything you need on collection day. ✨

Boredom means you have capacity.

This is different than the environmental fatigue that can come with having a chronic health condition where your body is just so fatigued from doing one thing. (I will do a reel on this as it is also a surprising element to weave into your healing journey by just switch things up…..)

True boredom. You want to do something.

But all your friends have faded into the background now. You’re either not included in invites or you removed yourself from them because it turns out they were not your ride or die friends but just “fun” friends.

And when you weren’t “fun” anymore they didn’t want to know……. (Yep. Hands up on this one)

Your routine has become centred around simply surviving. And then boom. Here’s some capacity and you don’t know what to do with it

But this is GOOD NEWS! And an opportunity for continued healing.

✨If you’re interested in learning the full details on how I got to a better place of health - my guide is available too buy now. Comment GUIDE and I’ll send you the link. ✨

Does this resonate with you?????

Big love. As always. Cheering you on to better health days.

✨People often ask me how I stay active whilst managing M.E. and MCAS and navigate my way through perimenopause.

There was a time when getting out of bed and standing was impossible, let alone walking to the end of my road…

Today, after years of rebuilding my health, I’m in a much better place. Movement has become part of my life again and I never take that for granted.

My health is built on strong foundations:

nourishing food, time in nature, quantum health, movement that works for my body, good sleep, and well chosen supplements that have consistently earned their place in my routine.

These three Cytoplan products have become part of that foundation as they offer genuine and effective support to my body.

1. Cell Active Glutathione
2. Cytozyme
3. Quercetin Plus

As always, I only recommend products I genuinely use, trust and have personally chosen to make part of my own health journey.

If you’ve been thinking about trying Cytoplan, their Buy 2, Get 1 Free Summer Sale is on now. 💚

P.s One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that better health isn’t gained by overhauling your life overnight. It’s about finding the small things that work for your body and gently nudge / support it in the right direction, day after day.

Music has been therapy for me since I was a kid.

Long before I understood the science behind it, I knew it could change how I felt.

As a DJ later in life, I found my happy place. There was nothing quite like watching a room of people transform through music. You could see their mood shift, their bodies move, their energy lift. It was pure magic.

For me, music is medicine. It’s one of the most powerful tools in my wellbeing toolkit.

Movement to music takes it to another level. Running, dancing… it was always how I processed stress, quietened the madness in my head, worked through anger, sparked new ideas and released emotion.

E-motion. Energy in motion.

That’s one of the reasons M.E. became such a vicious cycle. I lost one of the strongest and most effective ways I’d always regulated my nervous system.

And I’m so delighted that I’ve now got to have that back again. And something I never take for granted. Because of course - I very much used to!

My car go to Albums are also Michael Boltons In Time, Love and Tenderness. Yes. Michael Bolton! He’s ace! And also. Justin Timberlake’s - Justified. Oh. And this go-to album is Awake by Josh Groban. February Song and In Her Eyes never fail to move me…..

What’s the one song or album that feels like medicine to you? 🎵💚✨

Big love
Jo

⚠️ Certain antihistamines possess anticholinergic properties, which block the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from activating your sweat glands.

Because sweat evaporation is your body’s primary cooling mechanism, this effect significantly increases the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The extent of this risk heavily depends on the type of antihistamine you are taking:

High Risk (First-Generation): Older, sedating over-the-counter antihistamines are the main culprits. Medications like diphenhydramine (Benadryl), chlorphenamine, and doxylamine are most likely to impair your ability to sweat.

Low Risk (Second-Generation): Modern, non-sedating antihistamines like cetirizine (Zyrtec), loratadine (Claritin), and fexofenadine (Allegia/Telfast) generally do not impair the sweating mechanism or bind to the receptors that control your sweat glands.

If you must take a sedating antihistamine during a heatwave, or if you are combining multiple medications (like cold medicines or antidepressants) that can also reduce sweating, you will need to be extra proactive.

✨I’ve written a guide on all things histamine related called The Histamine Handbook. Comment Guide below and I’ll send you the link. ✨
