Stay safe this summer☀️

As the weather warms up, protecting your skin and staying safe in the sun becomes even more important - especially for older adults, people with health conditions, and anyone who spends time outdoors.

We've put together a list of simple ways to stay safe this summer:

🍶 Use sunscreen
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and reapply regularly, especially after sweating or being outdoors for a while.

🕶️Cover up
Wear lightweight long sleeves, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses to reduce sun exposure.

🏖️ Seek shade
Try to avoid direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day and spend time in shaded areas when possible.

🚰 Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

Outing times
Plan outings around cooler times of day avoiding the hottest part between 11am - 4pm

🥵Watch for signs of overheating
Keep an eye out for dizziness, headaches, excessive sweating, confusion, or unusual tiredness, and seek medical advice if you’re concerned.

A little preparation can make a big difference in staying safe and comfortable while enjoying the sunshine. 💜

💜This week is ‘Dementia Action Week’. A time for us to all raise awareness about living with Dementia. Learning how we can help support people better by understanding more about signs, symptoms & behaviours.

🩷We have PAs on the register who have a great deal of experience & knowledge around Dementia & who continue to educate themselves.

💜A number of PAs have experienced the Virtual Dementia Tour. An immersive experience enabling participants to experience how those living with dementia might become frustrated, confused & have sensory overload.
