Diabetes Awareness Week

8-14 June 2026

Shout about the things that matter to people with diabetes, shining a light on what it’s like to live with day in, day out.

🗣This Diabetes Week, let's change how we talk about diabetes.

8 out of 10 people living with diabetes say they’ve faced negative attitudes because of their diabetes - people passing judgement, making sweeping statements, or blaming and shaming people living with diabetes.

This is diabetes stigma. And it causes real harm to millions. 💚

That’s why we’re on a mission to ‘Strike Out Stigma’.

To show people that nobody chooses diabetes. That it isn’t anyone’s fault. And that by changing the way we talk about diabetes, together we can create a world where diabetes does no harm.

Diabetes Week takes place from 8 to 14 June 2026. Below you’ll find resources, information, stories and more.

☀️⛱️This weekend is set to be HOT !
Heat awareness involves understanding the dangers of high temperatures to prevent illnesses like heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Key safety measures include staying out of the midday sun (11 AM to 3 PM), drinking plenty of cold fluids, wearing light, loose clothing, and keeping your home cool.

How to Beat the Heat

Follow these simple and actionable habits to stay safe:

Hydration: Drink more cold drinks and avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine, which can lead to dehydration.Home

Cooling: Keep the sun out by closing blinds and curtains during the day. Open windows after dark to let cooler night air circulate.

Outdoor Protection: If you must be outside, seek shade, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and apply sunscreen generously.

Check on Vulnerable People: Older adults, young children, and those with pre-existing conditions are most at risk. Check on them during hot spells and ensure they are staying cool.
