A quiet autumn morning here yesterday after a blustery few days. 🍂

An early morning dog walk, rosehips glowing in the hedges, a handful brought home for the apothecary shelf (I have the intention to make some rosehip syrup this year 🤞)… and one very sleepy dog who clearly felt the rest of the morning was best spent on the sofa while I sat at the laptop working!

I do love a calm morning at this time of year, definitely to be appreciated before it gets too dark to be put before work, which is only a few weeks off.

I’ve gone and done a thing… 🌿

I’ve created a space over on Patreon called An Island Apothecary, and I’m really hoping it works!

It’s not just about the skincare I make or the essential oils I work with. It’s all the things that surround them too: the garden, the changing seasons, scent, making things, little projects, ideas, things I’m learning and the creative things I get up to when I’m not in the apothecary.

There’s my Blend Journal, where I explore a different blend each month, but there’s also the everyday stuff that doesn’t really have a place on Instagram.

I wanted somewhere to explore essential oils and aromatherapy, share what I’m making and experimenting with and share some things that don’t fit neatly into a short Instagram post or reel.

It’s a little slower, a little more in-depth, and a chance to see more of what goes on behind the scenes.

APOTHECARY GARDEN

My latest blend, after a lot of experimenting, tweaking and testing!

I wanted to bottle that lovely summer feeling in my garden: green herbs, sun-warmed leaves and fresh sea air.
Basically, the smell of wandering through the garden a sunny summery Shetland day!

It’s fresh, green and gently coastal, with just a little citrus lift. Not sweet or overpowering - just really fresh.
And then there are the botanical ingredients in the hand & Body Lotion doing their thing for your skin:

Calendula-infused oil: helps soothe, soften and condition
Nettle extract: nourishing and skin-conditioning
Sea buckthorn oil: rich in fatty acids and antioxidants

You’ll find it in the hand & body lotion, and I’ve also made a room mist so you can bring that fresh garden feeling into your home.

Quite a lot of experimenting went into this one… but I think I’ve finally got it 🤞

The Late Summer Gathering

A little glimpse of what’s waiting for you...

Inspired by the first harvests from the garden, the coastline around us and the slower pace of late summer.

Join me for a relaxed couple of hours to explore scent, botanicals and creativity.

We’ll blend your own essential oil scent to add to a beautiful natural body butter base, experiment with botanical additions, create pressed seaweed art and enjoy some homemade refreshments along the way.

No experience needed, just come along, explore and enjoy the afternoon. Bring a friend, come with family, or come on your own. Everyone is welcome.
