UPDATE

We are now open and are able to hand out prescriptions which have already been made up and accept in prescriptions however we are unable to process any new prescriptions or any prescriptions which are waiting to be made up. We are still working to fix this as fast as possible.

Due to some technical issues we are unable to open at 9am today. We are doing everything we can to fix this issue and will update as soon as we are able to open.

⚠️Precautionary recall on Ramipril 2.5mg Capsules (Crescent Pharma brand). ⚠️

Affected batch: GR155023
Expiry date: 08/2027

Due to a packaging error at the manufacturing site, some boxes may contain Ramipril 10mg Capsules.

We have tried to contact as many patients as we can that are on the medication.

What patients should do if they are prescribed Ramipril 2.5mg Capsules:

- Check the batch number on the end of the box.
- If the batch number does not match the one provided above (GR155023) then you do not need to take further action.
- If you have an affected batch, check the blister strips inside the box. If they say ‘Ramipril 2.5mg Capsules’ no further action is required.
- If the strips inside the box say ‘Ramipril 10mg Capsules’ do not take the medication and contact your pharmacy.

Levenwick Health Centre – Changes to how your medicine prescription is prepared and checked

From 30 March, patients registered at Levenwick Health Centre will now have their prescriptions prepared and checked by a community pharmacy. Community pharmacies will then deliver medicines to Levenwick Health Centre for collection – keeping this the same as is in place just now.

Additionally, there will also be the option to collection medicines directly from the pharmacy in Lerwick.

Patients will still order prescriptions in the same ways as before, by either leaving a message on the repeat prescription phoneline or by using the online ordering system (Patient Access). The aim is to keep the same seven-day turnaround time for receiving medicines that patients currently experience.

This system is already in place in five other health centre areas in Shetland, where a pharmacist checks each prescription before medicines are supplied. This provides an additional safety check.

Staff at the health centre will continue to support patients with any queries relating to prescriptions and medicines, as well as being supported by the pharmacy preparing and supplying the medicines for collection.
