Sometimes clients arrive saying, “I’m so sorry I’m such a mess today.”

Please don’t apologise 💛

This is your reminder that you don’t need to arrive feeling your best to deserve care. You don’t need to have it all together before your appointment.

Come as you are; stressed, tired, overwhelmed, emotional, quiet, chatty - whatever today looks like for you 🫶🏻

Your massage is a space to let go, not to put on a brave face ✨

You are welcome exactly as you are.

September availability

September is your reminder that you need time for you.

Not another thing to squeeze into your week. Not something you have to earn. Just a little time to step away from the noise, switch off, breathe, and let yourself be looked after.

I provide Complementary Therapies designed to give you that space to slow down, relax and reconnect with yourself.

And if I'm being completely honest… I NEED you to book.

I need September to be about filling these spaces with people who have been putting themselves last for far too long. I need you to stop saying “I’ll book when things calm down” because life rarely does.

So if you've been feeling tired, overwhelmed, stretched thin or simply craving some uninterrupted time for yourself, this is your sign.

LIPOEDEMA vs LYMPHOEDEMA - THEY ARE NOT THE SAME

Lipoedema and lymphoedema can look similar, especially when there is swelling or an increase in limb size. But they are two different conditions, with different underlying mechanisms.

WHAT IS LIPOEDEMA?
Lipoedema is a chronic disorder of adipose/connective tissue that predominantly affects women. It typically causes symmetrical enlargement of the legs, and sometimes the arms, with the feet and hands usually spared.

Common features include:
• Disproportionate fat distribution
• Pain or tenderness, particularly when the tissue is touched
• Easy bruising
• A heavy or aching feeling in the limbs
• Often a symmetrical appearance on both sides
• It may become more noticeable around hormonal changes such as puberty, pregnancy or menopause

Importantly, lipoedema is not simply a result of overeating or lack of exercise. Lipoedema tissue can be resistant to conventional weight-loss approaches.

SO HOW IS LYMPHOEDEMA DIFFERENT?
Lymphoedema is primarily a problem with lymphatic drainage. The lymphatic system is unable to transport lymph effectively, causing protein-rich fluid to accumulate in the tissues.
It can develop because of an abnormal lymphatic system from birth, or it can be secondary to things such as surgery, lymph-node removal, radiation, infection or trauma.

Lymphoedema can affect one or both limbs and commonly involves the feet or hands.

A SIMPLE WAY TO REMEMBER IT:
LIPOEDEMA = predominantly abnormal fat/connective tissue

LYMPHOEDEMA = impaired lymphatic drainage and fluid accumulation

With lipoedema, the feet are typically spared, whereas lymphoedema can extend into the feet and toes. Pain and easy bruising are also much more characteristic of lipoedema.

AND YES THEY CAN COEXIST.
This is where things become more complicated.
Someone with lipoedema can also develop lymphoedema. When clinically identifiable lymphoedema develops alongside lipoedema, this is often referred to as lipo-lymphoedema.
This is why getting the correct assessment matters.

SUPPORT & MANAGEMENT
Management is individual, but may include:
• Appropriate compression
• Movement and exercise suited to the individual
• Nutritional support
• Manual therapies where appropriate
• Skin care
• Pain management
• Support from practitioners who understand lipoedema and lymphatic disorders

There is no single treatment that “cures” lipoedema, and anyone promising to massage or exercise lipoedema away is selling you a fantasy. The goal is to manage symptoms, maintain mobility and quality of life, and identify any lymphatic or vascular problems that may be present.

Most importantly: increased limb size does not automatically mean lymphoedema, and lipoedema is not simply obesity.

Understanding the difference is the first step toward providing the right support.
Educational information only and not a diagnosis. If you think you may have lipoedema or lymphoedema, seek assessment from an appropriately trained healthcare professional.

Your Clavicles & Your Lymphatic System

Did you know that your clavicles (collarbones) are located right above two important areas where lymph ultimately returns to the bloodstream?

Your lymphatic system is constantly working behind the scenes moving lymph fluid, supporting immune function, and helping maintain fluid balance. Lymph travels through lymphatic vessels toward the veins near the collarbones, where it is returned to your circulation.

So, how can you support healthy lymph flow?

MOVE YOUR BODY
Your muscles act like a natural pump. Walking, stretching, mobility work, resistance training and other regular movement can help encourage lymph flow.

STAY HYDRATED
Lymph is fluid, so adequate hydration supports normal movement of lymph throughout the body.

EAT NOURISHING FOODS
A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and quality protein supports overall health. Keeping excessive salt intake in check can also help with fluid retention.

BREATHE & PRACTICE GOOD MOBILITY
Regular movement and comfortable deep breathing can be incorporated into a healthy daily routine. Think less about “detoxing” your lymph and more about giving your body the conditions it needs to do its job.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN
Your skin is an important barrier against infection. Protecting cuts, wounds and irritated skin is particularly important for people who are at risk of lymphoedema.

AND WHAT ABOUT LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE?
Manual lymphatic drainage is a specialised, gentle technique used clinically to help move lymph and manage swelling, particularly in people with lymphatic conditions such as lymphoedema. It isn't something everyone needs simply because they want to “detox.”

Your lymphatic system doesn't need a trendy detoxit needs movement, hydration, nutrition and good overall health.

There’s a reason why humans are wired for touch, and safe intentional touch is deeply healing ❤️‍🩹

Physical touch can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress hormones, ease muscle tension and encourage the body to shift from “fight or flight” into “rest and restore.”😌

Many people leave a massage saying they feel lighter, calmer and more connected to themselves. That’s because healing isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about allowing your body to feel safe enough to let go ✨

Whether you’re carrying physical tension, emotional stress or simply need an hour to recharge, massage is an investment in your wellbeing.

Your body works hard for you every day. It deserves care too 💛

You can’t buy happiness but you can get a massage and that’s kind of the same thing 🫶🏻💛✨
