🇺🇸🌴🤠 Our Great American Road Trip is underway! 🤠🌴🇺🇸

Residents at Claydon House have been enjoying the first two stops on our Care Home Open Week journey across America, with plenty of delicious food, fun activities and wonderful entertainment along the way!

🌴 Monday – Florida
We kicked off our adventure in the Sunshine State, where residents enjoyed making a delicious Key Lime Pie, inspired by Florida's famous dessert. Our kitchen team also treated everyone to a themed menu featuring Florida Orange Chicken and a refreshing Key Lime Cheesecake Pot. It was a wonderful way to bring a taste of Florida to Claydon House!

🤠 Tuesday – Texas
Next, we headed to Texas for a day of cowboy fun! Residents tested their skills with cowboy target games and enjoyed a fantastic dancing session with Rosie's Retro Rhythms, who had everyone moving, singing and smiling.

To complete our Texas experience, residents enjoyed a hearty Mild Chilli Con Carne followed by a delicious Texas Chocolate Traybake, bringing the flavours of the Lone Star State right to our dining tables.

It's been a fantastic start to our American adventure, and we can't wait to see where the rest of the week takes us! 🚗⭐

Who needs to travel to the seaside when you can bring the beach indoors? 🏖️☀️🌴

With the temperatures rising, our residents enjoyed a fantastic beach-themed day right here in the comfort of our home! We transformed our activity space with inflatable palm trees, colourful beach balls, and plenty of seaside decorations to create the perfect summer atmosphere.

Residents took part in a variety of fun seaside-themed games, shared stories of holidays by the coast, and enjoyed lots of laughter along the way. The room was filled with smiles as everyone embraced the holiday spirit and made the most of our indoor beach day.

Keeping cool while having fun was the perfect combination, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the summer vibes. 🌊😊

A great day was had by all, and we can't wait for our next themed adventure!

🌎🎉 Care Home Open Week is coming to Claydon House! 🎉🌎

From 15th June, we're excited to be taking our residents, relatives and visitors on a journey across the USA, with a different state featured each day throughout the week! 🇺🇸

Inspired by the success of our Claydon Cruise adventure last year and with the excitement of the World Cup bringing people together from around the globe, we'll be celebrating the culture, food, music and traditions of various American states through a range of fun activities and themed menus.

There will be plenty to enjoy, and we'd love for our local community to join us! Whether you're interested in learning more about life at Claydon House, meeting our wonderful residents and team, or simply taking part in the festivities, everyone is welcome.

Come along and discover the amazing things we do here every day while enjoying a taste of America! ⭐

Our residents enjoyed another wonderful weekly minibus trip today! 🚌☕😊

We headed out to a local café where everyone enjoyed a relaxing change of scenery, delicious refreshments, and plenty of great conversation. From cups of tea and coffee to tasty cakes and treats, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

These outings are always a highlight of the week, giving residents the opportunity to get out and about, socialise with friends, and enjoy the local community. The smiles, laughter, and shared memories made for a fantastic day all around.

A big thank you to our team for helping make these trips possible. We are already looking forward to next week's adventure! ❤️

The delicious smell of freshly baked biscuits filled our home as residents enjoyed an afternoon of baking! 🍪❤️

From mixing the ingredients to cutting out shapes and decorating their creations, everyone had a wonderful time getting involved. Baking is a fantastic way to bring people together, spark happy memories, and enjoy a tasty treat at the end of it all.

The homemade biscuits looked amazing and tasted even better! Well done to all our talented bakers for their hard work and creativity.

Our residents had a wonderful time getting creative by making beautiful beaded bracelets! 💎✨

The activity was filled with laughter, conversation, and plenty of colourful designs. From choosing their favourite beads to creating unique patterns, everyone enjoyed expressing their creativity and making something special to wear or gift to loved ones.

Activities like these help promote fine motor skills, encourage social interaction, and most importantly, bring lots of smiles! 😊

Our residents got creative making beautiful bee mobiles to celebrate National Bee Day! 🐝💛

Using paper plates, bright colours and buzzing bee decorations, everyone enjoyed an afternoon of arts and crafts while chatting about the importance of bees and springtime nature. Activities like these are a wonderful way to encourage creativity, concentration and social interaction — and we think the finished mobiles look amazing! 🌼

Well done to everyone who took part and helped bring a little extra buzz to the home today! 🐝✨

A huge thank you to a lovely local couple for kindly donating their beautiful wedding flowers to our home after their special day 💐

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed helping to arrange and distribute the flowers around the home, bringing colour, fragrance, and smiles to everyone. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a wonderful way for the joy of their wedding celebration to continue being shared with others.

Acts of kindness like this mean so much to our residents and staff, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown to our home. We wish the happy couple a lifetime of love and happiness together 💕

Last week, our wonderful residents got creative for Dementia Action Week by painting beautiful forget-me-not flowers 💙

The forget-me-not flower is a symbol of remembrance, support, and hope for those affected by dementia, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this meaningful activity. From careful brush strokes to plenty of smiles and conversation, it was a lovely way to come together, express creativity, and raise awareness.

This was just one of the many activities we enjoyed throughout the week. We also had the privilege of learning from our residents themselves, with some sharing their incredible piano-playing talents and others demonstrating their wonderful hairdressing skills. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their experiences, talents, and the valuable knowledge they continue to share with us every day 🌸

We are so proud of everyone’s fantastic artwork, talents, and the joy shared throughout the week.
