πŸ“… Clinics begin on Saturday 3 October 2026

βœ… Patients aged 65 and over
βœ… Patients aged under 65 with an eligible health condition

We will also be providing COVID-19 and flu vaccinations for eligible patients aged 75 and over and those who are severely immunosuppressed.

Why have your flu vaccine at Glebe Park Surgery?

βœ”οΈ Your medical record is updated immediately
Your vaccination is recorded directly onto your GP record, ensuring your health information is always up to date.

Having your vaccine with us helps support the services we provide to our local community.

βœ”οΈ Protection for you and those around you
The flu vaccine helps reduce your risk of becoming seriously unwell and protects vulnerable family members, friends and patients.

πŸ“ž We are currently sending booking links and contacting eligible patients. If you are eligible and have not yet heard from us and would like to secure your appointment, please contact the surgery.

πŸ’™ Help Us Reduce Missed Appointments

In June, a total of 34 hours of appointments were lost due to patients not attending their scheduled appointments. Unfortunately, this increased to 40.5 hours in July - an increase of 6.5 hours of valuable clinical time.

To put this into perspective, those missed appointments equate to 150 appointments that could have been available for other patients needing advice, treatment, or support.

We understand that plans change, but if you can no longer attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Even a short notice cancellation allows us the opportunity to offer that appointment to another patient.

βœ… Cancel via the NHS App
βœ… Reply to your appointment reminder (where available)
βœ… Contact the practice directly

Thank you for helping us make the best use of NHS resources and ensuring appointments are available for those who need them most. πŸ’™

The practice will be closed this afternoon from 1pm.

πŸ“’ Important Update from Glebe Park Surgery
We want to be open and honest with our patients about the current pressures facing General Practice and what this means for you.
From 1st April 2026, national changes mean that:
βœ… AskMyGP must be open 8:00am–6:30pm, Monday to Friday
βœ… All requests must receive a same-day response
While this sounds positive, these changes have been introduced without additional funding or staff.

How GP surgeries are funded
Many patients are understandably unaware of how GP surgeries are funded, so I would like to explain:
β€’ GP practices receive Β£130.07 per patient per year
β€’ This is the same amount regardless of how often a patient contacts us
β€’ Glebe Park Surgery has 7,557 patients
This must cover all costs of running the practice, including:
β€’ Doctors and nurses’ salaries
β€’ Reception, admin, and management staff salaries
β€’ Cleaners and support staff
β€’ Medical equipment and supplies
β€’ Utilities (electricity, water, etc.)
β€’ National Insurance and pension contributions
Although rent is reimbursed, all other costs must come from this budget.

πŸ’‘ The Reality Behind the Service

We receive up to 250 requests in a single day
Around 1,000 requests every week
Safe staffing would require at least 8 clinicians daily
In reality, we often have 3–4 clinicians available

We are already:
βœ”οΈ Working beyond recommended limits
βœ”οΈ Putting in extra hours
βœ”οΈ Doing everything we can to help as many patients as possible

⚠️ Why You May Be Redirected
At times, we may not be able to offer an appointment the same day. If this happens, we may direct you to:
πŸ‘‰ NHS 111
πŸ‘‰ Your local pharmacy
πŸ‘‰ Urgent Treatment Centres
➑️ Please know: this is always a last resort

❀️ A Message to Our Patients
We understand how frustrating delays can be, and we truly care about every patient we serve.
πŸ‘‰ We are doing everything we can within the limits we face
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support.

πŸ”— Learn more about the national picture:

From Friday 1 May, we are urging GP partnerships and practices across England to take part in collective action, given Government’s insufficient assurances regarding our concerns over the 2026/27 GMS contract.

πŸ“’ Help Us Reduce Missed Appointments (DNAs)
In June, we saw a significant impact from missed appointments:
πŸ”Ή Nursing appointments missed: 83
⏱️ Time lost: 24 hours
πŸ”Ή Doctor appointments missed: 53
⏱️ Time lost: 10 hours
➑️ Total impact:
❗ 136 missed appointments
❗ 34 hours of lost clinical time
This is time that could have been used to care for patients who need us. πŸ’™
πŸ‘‰ If you can’t attend your appointment, please cancel in advance.
It helps us offer that slot to someone else and keeps services running smoothly.
Thank you for your support! πŸ™
