THE FUTURE OF UPBEAT - unfortunately the group will be closing in the next couple of weeks if we can’t find anyone who is able to take on running the group. It’s a huge shame as the group benefits many people and acts as a bridge between services. We have tried really hard to find a person/group/organisation to take over but it hasn’t worked out.

If you are interested please comment below or email [email protected]

Serious offers only please, we now need a quick turn around for handover.

Thank you, and goodbye 🧔

I’ve been part of — and running — Upbeat for over six years. In that time it has been an absolute privilege to support people in our community navigating the complexity and pain that can come with living with a personality disorder. Upbeat has meant more to me than I can properly put into words, and writing this is emotional.

The truth is, the last 18 months have been incredibly challenging for me personally. After a lot of thought, honesty with myself, and some difficult conversations, I’ve come to the decision that it’s time for me to step back and hand Upbeat over to new management.

I no longer have the time or capacity to give the group what it deserves, and continuing as I have been wouldn’t be fair — to the group or to myself.

I want to sincerely apologise to anyone who has tried to reach out recently or noticed that things haven’t been running as they usually do. I know that’s been felt. The only reason Upbeat has been able to keep going at all is because of the incredible work and dedication of the two other managers I’ve worked alongside — I am deeply grateful to them.

I’ve tried my hardest to keep everything going: sessions, attendance, the page, funding, the behind-the-scenes work. But I’ve reached the point where I need to acknowledge my limits.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of my Upbeat journey — managers, members, and people in the wider community. It has genuinely been an honour.

For now, I will remain involved in a quiet, back-seat capacity during the transition to new management, but for now please understand that Upbeat cannot guarantee that messages will be read or replied to, or that management will be present at sessions.

Signing off for the final time with love, Alex

BPD emotional hangovers are brutal in a way that’s hard to explain. Today my head is pounding, my whole body aches, my eyes are sore, and my jaw is locked from carrying tension. The storm of emotions has passed, but what’s left is this strange mix of guilt, sadness and a huge, heavy emptiness. It’s like feeling everything and nothing at the same time. I’m exhausted, worn out, and just trying to be gentle with myself while I try to piece myself back together again.
